Bone scan - waiting for results

At the beginning of this year, 4 months before my routine breast screening mammogram - I was back and forth to my gp complaining about lower abdominal aches which were unusual and new. I had a bowel Poo test, B12 and a CA125 and all came back clear.
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in May and have mentioned my concerns about right side pelvic bone pain and it was dismissed every time.

The surgeon and the oncologist stated that due to the size of my tumour 1.5cm / and the fact that I had micro metastasis in one lymph node that any pain was not connected to my breast cancer.

as the pain has not subsided they finally listened to me a few weeks ago and I had a radioactive bone scan just over a week ago.

has anyone else had this procedure? I’m really struggling with the wait time for results. Did you get news quickly or did the results take weeks?

I’m hoping that the more time that passes may be an indication that there’s nothing to worry about - I know I’m a stress head about this, but I can’t help worrying

  • Hi I am sorry to hear about your breast cancer diagnosis.  I have had the nuclear bone scan three times.  I think the wait is on average two weeks.  I am glad that you had the scan because you know your body better than anyone else.  Sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and insist on investigations  Have you finished your breast cancer treatment now?  Good luck and hope your results come back all clear.  Take care.

  • Thank you for your reply, I’ll give it another week before following it up. I’m hoping that no news is good news and if my results were bad I’d hear pretty quickly?
Just about completed my treatment, last radiotherapy session was on Friday

can’t fault the NHS, just praying the scan comes back clear and any aches are down to age related wear and tear x

  • Hi no I cannot fault the treatment I am receiving from the NHS.  My oncologist is really great and he explains everything to me.  I really hope that your scan is clear and its great that you have finished your radiotherapy.  Hopefully now it will be okay.  Let me know how you get on.
