A warm welcome to Cancer Chat though I am sorry to hear your dad has been diagnosed with sarcomatoid mesothelioma. This is a rare form of mesothelioma and I hope that you will hear from other members of our community who have had the same diagnosis and that they will share with you what treatment they had and how successful it was. You will also find on our website information on survival for mesothelioma but obviously this information needs to be taken with a (big) pinch of salt as only your dad's specialist can give you more information about their outlook and even then it can be really difficult to give a reliable prognosis as every person and case is so different.
I had a little look on our forum for other threads from members who have been specifically affected by sarcomatoid mesothelioma and I found this sarcomatoid mesothelioma thread by vgawn whose husband was diagnosed a year ago and on that thread Valerie explained the treatments he was having which included immunotherapy and he was at the time in a similar place as you find yourself today feeling unsure as to what to expect. Don't hesitate to pop a comment on that thread if you want to reach out to someone else who knows what it is like to care for someone with sarcomatoid mesothelioma.
There is also a charity called Mesothelioma UK which you might like to look at for more information and support.
