Anyone in similar situation

Hello , I got diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2018 . Gleason 7, T3. Has surgery and radio therapy 3 to 4 times as it came back and hasn’t gone away really . Now it has gone to my hip bone and base of spine and they won’t give radiotherapy but giving 3 mo they zalodex injections and daily enzalutakide hormone therapy. The psa shows low as it always does after treatment next test is August 13th 2025.
I’ve read the body can get used to the drugs and stop being effective. My real question is, how long can someone live that’s has has the condition and situation I have. Now that it’s ok my spine I’m worried it’s going to inevitably spread even if very slowly etc . Is it possible to still survive this for along time? Anyone

  • Hello herc2018

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. It's understandable that you have questions about how this may impact your health and lifespan. It's a really difficult question for anyone to answer but it's great to hear that your last PSA test result was low. Hopefully when you have your next test in August the results will show that the zoladex and enzalutamide treatments are continuing to keep things under control.

We do have a member here on the forum who has been living with metastatic prostate cancer for a few years now. You can read about  story by clicking on his name and hopefully he will pop by to share more of his experiences with you.

You're also most welcome to give our team of nurses a call if it would help to chat with them about some of your questions. I know they will be happy to listen and offer any advice, information and support they can. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I hope that your next appointment brings some reassurance herc2018. Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
