Mets in lower spine and pelvis - does anyone else suffer with this?

Hi all

i have mets in lower spine and pelvis. When I sit or lay down I can feel it in my buttocks/lower back. It doesn’t hurt but is a bit disconcerting. Does anyone suffer with this or can feel their cancer?  Have just had another MRI and am dreading that it may have gone walkabout again, or have gotten worse.

Many thanks

  • I'm sorry about the mets in your lower spine and pelvis Bushey-Herts and how uncomfortable it can be when you are sitting or laying down. It must be very tough.

I know you said it doesn't hurt, but I still wanted to share some information we have about cancer and pain control just in case you find any of the tips and advice in there to be useful.

Hopefully you'll hear back from some of our members who have experienced something similar soon but do feel free to give our cancer nurses a call if you'd like to get their thoughts on this as well. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m and they will do all that they can to help.

In the meantime, we're sending you all our support Bushey-Herts and hope your MRI results bring good news when they come through.

    Kind regards,

  • I also have mets in lower spine and pelvis and I’m in agony. On morphine for pain, but barely helps. Radiotherapy for 5 days next week could help, but could take months. Breast cancer also in liver and lungs for which I’m about to start treatment. Really scared. But I have been in (undiagnosed) pain since April so at least ‘moving forward’ now. Can’t quite believe that I could have any quality of life back. Anyone else been through this? B/w all

  • Hi Bushy

I too have bone mets but further up my back and spine. I have backache and it feels like I have a bruised rib which I haven't. I can never get comfortable even in bed. But like you Im not in severe pain. I hope the results of your scan show no further spread.
