Hair growth after chemo - how do I look after it and will my 'normal' hair come through?

Hi everyone, finished my chemo at the beginning of May. Lost all hair.

Now starting to grow back but head hair is really fluffy. I had heard that it can come back like this.

My question is to I have to cut it to get rid of whats growing now or will if left alone will it start growing as 'normal' hair?

Thank you x

  • Hi Cah60, I too am interested in what people have to say about hair growth. My hair did start to grow before my last chemo on the 9th of July. Mine too is quite fluffy at the moment and more grey than it was previously. I'd like to know if the colour will return at some point. I hope you don't mind me jumping onto uour thread. Xx

  • Mine was fluffy initially but it soon returns to normal thickness, I'm marginally more grey but I was pretty grey beforehand - I'm 76.

Certain areas come back more quickly - the hair on my head (I've been bald on top for 40 years and that doesn't come back), my moustache, etc. My beard and arm hair much slower but I'm virtually back to my previous appearance now. And my hair is not so greasy.
