Newly diagnosed

I had a colonoscopy today and have been told I have cancer, will need a CT scan and then they will decide what happens next. I’m just trying to get my head round it and needed to get in touch with others. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

  • Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I've been exactly where you are (cancer found in colonoscopy in Jan,  complete shock) and in many ways this bit - waiting for the scans, then waiting for the results and to find out what's next - was the worst part. Once I knew exactly what I was dealing with and there was a plan in place to deal with it, things felt easier.

Hopefully your scan appointment will come through soon - don't be afraid to chase if it doesn't.

    Good luck xx

  • Hi thank you for your message. I’ve just heard that I have a scan booked for Friday. The specialist nurse at the hospital has been good and talked me through the process. As you say once you know what you’re dealing with then things should feel easier.

i hope that your treatment is going ok and thank you again for responding it certainly helps to hear from other people. xx
