Newly diagnosed

I had a colonoscopy today and have been told I have cancer, will need a CT scan and then they will decide what happens next. I’m just trying to get my head round it and needed to get in touch with others. Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.

  • Hi Beverley, my husband was diagnosed last week with lung cancer following a CT scan of his abdomen and chest. They had noticed " metastatic changes" in a routine MRI after he had a benign tumour removed from his spine in July. He waited 3½ weeks for the CT results and as you can imagine, we are devastated at this development. He has an appointment today to meet the respiratory Dr taking over his care, but just the fact they have asked him to ensure he has his wife, partner or a family member with him at the meeting, fills me with dread. I'm trying to keep my sensible nurses head on, but it's not working. I'm frightened, shocked and broken for him. The thing is, with this forum, nobody is alone and everyone will totally understand how each other is feeling!
