Living with cancer in work

Is really been very hard coping with diagnosis of the cancer. Specially in work. My manager seems not taking serious. She didn’t make any changes in workplace. I request a meeting 1 week ago, to discuss reducing hours e maybe same adjustment in work. She wants to see the letter from my GP but I only discovered I have cancer 1 week ago, and I don’t receive final letter yet from the hospital

  • Hello Manhyon and welcome to the forum, i am sorry to hear of your diagnosis and your problems at work. firstly phone your GP and hospital to see if you can get the letter sooner and tell them why, Your line manager should, by law, talk to you about, personal adjustments to the workplace or to working practices, to enable you to carry on working, but sadly you are not the first person i have known who has these problems with their employers. if you go on, www.macmillan.org.uk and type in rights at work for people with cancer, a guide to what you need to know. you will get advice on your situation, take care.
