Three years on

After delays in being seen due start of pandemic, it's three years to the day since I was informed I had bowel cancer. Didn't expect to see Christmas that year - you may remember, it was the non-Christmas for those of us adhering to government's rules!

Diagnosis was followed by surgery, followed by chemo and, a year later, followed by radiotherapy for newly discovered lung mets.

I still have small, slow growing lung mets but no treatment since rt in Nov. 2021. I tend to think of myself as Stage 4 light whilst being very aware my situation could change at any time. I'm still here, enjoying my life and have made some good friends along the way. Just felt that I should mark this milestone in some way.

I wish you all well,  whatever the stage of your "journey" . I wish you supportive family and/or friends. I wish we may all feel at peace.

  • Hello Helen

I wanted to post to say thank you for sharing the story of reaching your three-year milestone. It's great to hear that you've needed no further treatment since November and that you have such a positive outlook on your diagnosis. I know there are a number of members living with a stage 4 diagnosis and embracing life each day. Certainly, a positive mindset helps.

I'm sure that your post will offer hope to others who may find themselves facing a similar diagnosis in the future.

    Best wishes,
