Alcohol and cancer

I have cancer. Should I give up alcohol ? I wasn't a big drinker but I am drinking more now than before my diagnosis . Maybe a bottle of wine every couple of days . I have gained about a stone since diagnosis as have been comfort eating too. Chocolate etc. In a way it's a kick back to seeing my mum loose weight when she had cancer and watching her waste away . Anyone else experience this ?

thsnks so so much for info mine was her2 negative I had lunpectomy then 2 nd op full node clearance and radiotherapy I'm 48

I'm so happy your first mamo was clear and to many more was yours her2 negative ?
I am so happy you sent me that info

  • I was Her2 - had a mastectomy so no radiotherapy.  Sorry to be harbour of bad news food and weight wise!!!!!!

  • No it was interesting it's akways good to hear beacuse these things are the truth .

I was so good for a while but I've slipped massively on the food lol

I opted for masectomy but was refused

  • They're very reluctant to do it.  I only got my mastectomy because they found a second area of DCIS after they found the initial IDC.  2 areas in a smallish boob changed the goalposts so I got the mastectomy.  Sometimes I wish I'd had the lumpectomy because I would have had the radiotherapy too and that's a safety net.  There was a time last year I just didn't feel safe because they'd done so little to me!!!!

  • Hi I initially diagnosed bc ten years ago totally gutted gave up smoking, drinking, eating bad, last year secondary in bones total hip replacement n mets in spine no curable so now I'm just living life I eat, drink what I fancy still working full time and enjoying life to the full, life can be short do enjoy what you can whilst you can I say. Just remember to look up and smell them roses xx

  • Hi Lara  -still waiting for my results . Have developed cording under  my arm and getting physio help for that.  The waiting is hard .

  • So sorry to hear that. I think it coming back is everyone's greatest fear . It is mine.As you say life is short.I hope you get treatments that help and continue to enjoy life

I'm sorry you have cording I did read all about that , does it cause pain how did this come on I'm sorry to hear this I hope that the physio is helping .

it can't be much longer now for results x

nims as for the post on reoccurring I hope you are not thinking of this if this comes to my mind I shut it down the same minute I won't let it open up and it works for me every time . However I think the Oncotype DX test saved my mental health in that respect it's not for everyone it's personal choice but for me if I start to think along those lines I go back to my score and this settles me immediatetly for me I wasn't sure how I was ever going to find closure but I found it by having that test .

    Love Lara ️
