Why has my husband been taken off Enzolutamide?

Hi All,

My husband of 61 has been on enzolutamide for 2 years now after being diagnosed with stage 4 Prostate cancer which has spread to spine and pelvis.  He has to have the 3 monthly injections and Androlic Acid tablets.  He doctor told us over the phone last week that they are thinking of taking him off the Enzolutamide tablets, but we don't know why?   He's psa has been at 0.01 for over 18mths now, so it's not because the psa has gone up !!!    We have another telephone appointment with the Onc. Next week.  But I'm worried.
why take him off them ????    Any advise would be appreciated.

    Hi l can't help with why he's been taken off his treatment but some are given for a set time ie two years,  or three years then discontinued. 

    Do make a list with your husband of any questions that you need answered before they ring you back. We all forget our questions as soon as we see or speak with our consultants. I have found it helps me to remember everything.

    Hi, sometimes they can be taken of meds to give the body a rest and get things working without tablets, also enzalutamide can start loosing it's effectiveness even though psa is still low. 

    You don't say if any side effects on enzalutamide as could be a reason, to let him feel normal for a while. 

    I myself have prostate cancer gone to lymph node's pelvis spine ribs and a lung was diagnosed feb 2016, had enzalutamide for 3 years after chemotherapy at beginning and hormone tablets and injections for life. but dose cut down twice as struggling with lack of energy alot. 

    My enzalutamide stopped working well hence having chemotherapy just now. 

    Hope things are working well for him and your keeping him under your thumb so he doesn't overdo things.

    Hi Billy,

    He has hot sweats but that's the only side effect he's been having. A bit of fatigue as well.   But not too much.  That's why we are confused.  He got diagnosed Nov 2020, already spread to he's spine, pelvis and hip.  So already at stage 4.  Psa was 15, I know that sounds low but has a lot of family history of all types of cancer.  

    I really hope you are coping with the chemo as best you can.
