Hi everyone
I have stage 4 NED at the moment, long may it continue. Melanoma turned up in my right lung 3 years ago 13 years after the cutaneous one. It was removed and I had another scan. Because there was no further disease present it was suggested that I took a watch and wait approach. So far so good, however the iodine tracer in the CT scans is so tortuously painful. I get stressed leading up to a scan, don't we all? But the pain is making me fear it so much I start to shake as soon as i reach the hospital. I can't find anyone else who is affected this way, the internet says CT scans are painless. I also cannot find any case histories with other stage 4 who are watching and waiting. The papers i read are unaminous saying that routine scans do not significantly increase life expectantcy. I moved areas shortly after the operation and I have only seen my new oncologist once, because of covid. I do not want anymore scans but I don't know what to do?
