Anastrazole

Hi,

Had breast cancer treatment for invasive lobular, oestrogen positive breast cancer about 2 years ago and have been on Anastrazole ever since. Seem to get a fair few side effects and still get body aches and pains and pins and needles in my hands and feet as I did from just before being diagnosed. Also exhausted all the time as before.

Is anyone on Anastrazole having the same type of thing. Also I know I can't/shouldn't replace the oestrogen but I wondered if anyone has any ideas for anything to take or do to alleviate the effects of lack of the oestrogen? I've heard that soy is a good substitute but also that it's not good for someone who had oestrogen positive cancer.

I live alone and worry quite alot with the aches and pains if the cancer is coming back and also if I am doing everything possible to get my body feeling as normal as it can.

Sometimes I'm unsure if the body pains are the medication, breast cancer treatment, going through second menapause after having to come off HRT or an age thing! :)

Any tips or advice greatly appreciated :)

  • Hello Eizzil68,

I've come across quite a few threads on the forum over the years from members who wanted to share their experiences with anastrozole . If you type 'anastrozole' in our forum search function which is located on the blue banner at the top, you will be able to see past threads on the subject and feel free to respond to any you would like to engage with.

I thought I would mention for example [@Red59]‍'s thread on anastrozole which is very recent so don't hesitate to post a response there if you wish to do so.

I am not qualified myself to answer your question about how to alleviate the effects of lack of oestrogen but you could perhaps talk to your medical team about this as I am sure they will have some good suggestions for you.

Our nurses are also available on this free number 0808 800 4040 - their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm if you would like to talk things through with them or ask them questions about anastrozole.

    Best wishes,
