Referred for breast thickening

I had my appointment yesterday and have been referred! I have a hard area in my breast not movable, not painful, not smoth amd riggered edges its about 4cm and I'm freaking out! I have an appointment on the 25th of October but my minds in overdrive! ️ ️ ️ ️ ️ I don't even know if I'm posting on the right place here. Hope everyone is well.

  • Hello there, I'm really sorry to hear that your mind is in overdrive. I wanted to reassure you that it's perfectly natural to feel that way. I certainly have found my mind in overdrive since my journey started here and that was about six weeks ago now.  You are definitely posting on the right place. It's good that you saw your GP yesterday and to have your appointment date already is positive news. I also have a further apt on that date that I'm quite worried about. So you're not alone.

    Hi Nousernamesleft,

A very warm welcome to our forum. This can be a scarey wait and our minds do go into overdrive. Don't worry if you are feeling over emotional at the moment, as this is perfectly normal. You will find it easier once you know what you are dealing with, as it is particularly hard to cope with so many unknowns.

Only 1 person in every 8 referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis and not all breast lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibrous changes.

You will have some tests when you attend the clinic and it will probably take a further 1-2 weeks for the results to come back.

I sincerely hope that your tests don't show up anything untoward. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi,

Thank you for your very kind comments. I had such tremendous support when I first joined Cancer Chat, which I really appreciated. This made me realise just how imperative it is for us all to try and help and support others where we can, as a cancer diagnosis can lead to a very frightening and lonely journey without support.

I hope that you are holding up.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
