The waiting game

I'm so glad I found this forum and now know that waiting for results is difficult for everyone at times I think I'm just a negative person but it seems the waiting game is tough.  I had duct ecstasia around 8 years ago with no reoccurrence.  I recently decided I would get the lump checked behind my left nipple but wasn't concerned as my nipple has been inverted for 8 years and I fully expected to be told it's duct blockage again.  Came as a shock to find that's not likely. .  3 biopsies on lump and one in Lymph node.  Words used like worried and highly suspicious during consultation.  To be honest I'm in shock that awful sick feeling in your tummy and another ten days till results appointment.  I asked some direct questions but obviously she wouldn't commit till results are in but in her experience I will be having treatment. Keeping as busy as I can but an emotional wreck right now. Relieved to hear this is the norm for most of you awaiting results.

  • Ahh yes I've heard that too from Docetaxel, but in all honesty you never really know how you react to it until you get it! I've heard a similar thing about Paclitaxol and risk of neuropathy etc, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see how we go.. At least you have 3 more and you are halfway through now, that makes it so much mroe manageable!! I'm not looking forward to one more EC and then 12 Taxol, seems like a drag but just have to remind myself its for a good cause :)

Hope you get an ultrasound soon! Like you say it might be nothing, it is so easy to feel everything changing as your body is going through so much but always good to check. I had a similar experience at the beginning of chemo and it turned out to be nothing, just my body reacting to all of the meds they are putting it through!

I have been getting out a bit; to shops or go for a walk with a friend. I've had a conversation with my BCN about it and she said to be cautious (dont go to crowded places, or see people that have lots of interaction) but to try to do certain things to keep spirits up. And they recommended to wear a FFP2 mask as gives extra protection. Not sure if that helps? I think as long as you're being careful and wash hands/disinfect etc you hopefully are able to at least do some things!!

  • Hi lovely really feel for you on the body aches I've hardly had any touch wood. Had scan today they where pleased.  I was 1.5 to 2 and now 1.3 so only a little but going in the right direction.  They said it's the herceptin which targets the cancer and that's what will zap it.  Onwards and upwards next Thursday is d day on the new treatment and I'm going 3 weekly still.  Enjoy your good days Elvia.  Hope both you girls have a great weekend ️

  • Hi Madgee,

Lovely hearing from you! Sorry for the late response. I had chemo last Wednesday (my 4th EC) and it wiped me out for a few days :) I'm moving onto weekly chemo on the 16th of Feb and am hoping it will be easier!

I'm sorry to hear your new one is a bit worse :( Which one are you getting, was it docetaxel? Definitely worth asking about the weekly option, I will let you know as soon as I had my first one how it is!!

Have you had any conversations yet about surgery? I had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday and have some thinking to do about reconstruction options, but overall she was really positive so have been in a great mood since haha!

I hope you're doing ok with the side effects at the moment lovely, remember how far we've already gotten!! Xxx
