The waiting game

I'm so glad I found this forum and now know that waiting for results is difficult for everyone at times I think I'm just a negative person but it seems the waiting game is tough.  I had duct ecstasia around 8 years ago with no reoccurrence.  I recently decided I would get the lump checked behind my left nipple but wasn't concerned as my nipple has been inverted for 8 years and I fully expected to be told it's duct blockage again.  Came as a shock to find that's not likely. .  3 biopsies on lump and one in Lymph node.  Words used like worried and highly suspicious during consultation.  To be honest I'm in shock that awful sick feeling in your tummy and another ten days till results appointment.  I asked some direct questions but obviously she wouldn't commit till results are in but in her experience I will be having treatment. Keeping as busy as I can but an emotional wreck right now. Relieved to hear this is the norm for most of you awaiting results.

  • Hiya

I am new to the forum and I am so worried as well.

I found a lump on my right breast a couple of days ago and i have an appointment with my gp next Thursday...the waiting game is the hardest ...I cannot stop crying and thinking the worst...it is really hard .

I hope you get some great results .

  • You too it's a worrying  time for sure.  I feel exactly  the same.  My best day this week as so busy at work.  Distraction  seems to be the best thing right now. Hope your results are good too x

  • Hi lovely ladies,

Sorry I haven't responded, I've been doing ok ️ My mum is over for a few days from back home to help out, so have been enjoying the company and taking it easy!
The first 2 days were tough, I felt relatively ok but I got a pretty bad headache and it kept me bed bound pretty much for 2 days straight. Since yesterday I've started to feel a lot better! I've even managed to put some normal clothes and make up on today (I know it seems silly, but it's the little things that make my day haha).

I still am not back to a 100%, my body is aching but as much as chemo is hard, I now also know I can do this. I've even got myself a wig this morning!

Hope you both are doing ok. Madgee - also one more session of chemo before Christmas?? I hope we can all enjoy the holidays, but at least we know we got this ladies. We're strong!! ️

  • So pleased to hear from you Elvira.  I also found it very hard but for obv reasons didn't want to worry you or make you anxious.irs brutal  and I too was around 4 days terrible and in bed.  I'm now  2 weeks in and feel so much better have been cleaning eating better and sickness pills have kept the nausea away.  I have never felt so poorly but knowing the worst lasts  for me around 4 days I think will spur me on.  This time next week  you will be so different hun.  Enjoy time with yr Mum and rest and as much water as you can get down you.  My beloved  cup of tea is now referred to as a cup of tin lol.  Sending lots of love x

  • How are you doing ladies?  Hope your picking up Elvira and having a few better days.  How are you V1234 hope you have a lovely weekend and your not to anxious, try enjoy the next few days. Lots of love to you both xxxxx

  • Hi Madgee - I've been doing ok actually! Started to feel a lot better on the weekend, headache was finally completely gone and was able to go out for lots of walks with the dog :)

I have been having issues with my port arm. It's sensitive and difficult to stretch etc. But I had an ultrasound today and everything looked fine so they said just to keep an eye on it. I have my next appointment with the oncologist on Tuesday so hoping we're all still on track so far.

How have you ladies been doing?? Madgee is your next session on Monday? Assuming you will have blood test soon, and you feeling ok?

    sending love! Xxx

  • Hi Madgee ,

So good to hear from you.  I hope you are well and I hope you both are  feeling stronger!

I am OK,  I had  a few blood tests this week and started some iron tablets because my haemoglobin was a bit low.

Next Thursday is my operation but I am having g every day next week an appointment so I am hoping it will be a quick week so I won't think about my operation!!

We have put our Christmas tree up yesterday and trying to keep things normal for my little girl..but it can be difficult sometimes.

I hope you are both having a good night and have a lovely, relaxing and cosy weekend.

Sending all my love to you both. Xxxx

  • So glad you have turned a corner Hun.  It is brutal and I think what makes the first one worse is you feel like your not going to turn that corner when your poorly andbits all do unknown.  I'm hoping that now I've experienced the pattern when I'm really poorly I can tick the days off and no there are some really good days to follow. I'm not going till Thursday as they have bundled all my appointments together.  I've got bloods at 9, oncology review st 10 and Chemo st 11.  So 3 days out but all in one go.  Making the most of feeling really good and managed to get my covid booster in today.  I got in the garden, have had walks and just enjoyed feeling well.  Enjoy the rest before next treatment lovely we can do this, one down ! Lots of love stay positive xxxx

  • Great to hear from you V1234, sounds like a very busy week which will pass.  I will be thinking of you on the 9th as that's my next Chemo but you will be okay and are in the best of hands.  So pleased the tree is up and bet your little girl is super excited. I did think of you as saw a heart shaped pillow which apparently is very comfortable to aid sleep following surgery and also compresses can be soothing, have a google or follow Mary Huckle and Julia Bradbury on Instagram if you have it.  Might be worth ordering one.  Take care and remember the journey isn't forever and you can do this.  Lots of love xxxx

  • Hi Madgee and Elvira114,

  • On your way to recovery lovely. Its gone I know it will take a while to recover but you will have all this behind you soon.  No better place than your own bed.  Hope you can take it easy rest and enjoy Christmas. Do not over do it listen to yr body.  I did chem 2 on Thursday  and it kicked in quite quick so had a really tough night.  I'm m much better now my meds have kicked in but have spent last 2 days on sofa but just resting and listening  to my body.  Can't believe 2 done passing quicker than I thought. Loads of love to you remember rest keep on top of your meds and let everyone  look after you.  Bet you can't wait to see your little girl.

  • Thank you so so much Madgee! Yes definitely I will need to take it easy and rest but the best medicine will be a big hug from my daughter, I missed her so much!!

I am so happy the 2nd session has finished ! Well done my lovely!  You done it , you are so strong !!

Have a good rest and enjoy your Saturday afternoon.

I will message you during the week to check how you are

  • Hi lovelies,

Sorry for not being around much! I've changed jobs 2 weeks ago and it has been the best distraction, but also very tiring.
I'm so glad you're both doing ok! V1234- so proud you've got it behind you now and you seem to be coping very well. Onwards and upwards now!! ️
Madgee- how has the 2nd round been treating you? Hope you're taking all the rest and drinking all the fluids?

My second round is on Monday and starting to get a bit anxious again. I know a bit better what to expect now, but that's also a downside haha! At least I know I can do it.. I've done it once before right?!
I have some aches all around (last week my breast was sore, currently my joints and lower back hurts) and I hate the fact that all these meds do things to your body, and it will be most likely that, but that it spirals me into thinking the worst. I'm generally quite positive, but sometimes I really hate this disease.

Sorry for the long rant, but I knew you ladies would understand. Lovely hearing from you both! ️

  • Hi lovely massive  congratulations on your new job I had my chemo Thursday  and it was a little different to first  one.  My first I didn't crash for 3 days nut this time I crashed  after 3 hours.  Terrible first night with nausea  but have got on top of that with back up sickness pills I take them if I don't need them 3 a day and it keeps it at bay.  I had a review before chemo and she gave me 5 days extr a steroids to try and ease the crash do will let you  know if that helps.  I also had lots of aches and pains, breast, armpit and upper back but she checked pet scan and reassured me.  I think chemo does give joint ache as a side effect. Just think when we do January were half way there.  We've got Christmas  to enjoy also.  We can do this hun. Have a lovely  Sunday and hope Monday  goes OK.  Lots of water  and rest.  Lots of love to you

  • So happy to hear from you Elvira114 !! So strong ,both of you ,I cannot believe what you are going through!!

Very proud for both  of you

Have a good rest. Good luck for tomorrow my dear I know you can do this .

  • Thanks ladies ️ So happy to hear from you both!
how are you doing now V1234? Are you feeling ok? Have you seen your daughter meanwhile?!

Madgee- I guess every round we learn more on how to deal with the side effects, I'm glad you've been able to keep sickness at bay after the first night. Prevention is definitely the right call I think, sickness and nausea is horrible. And hope the steroids help with the crash too! Are you feeling ok at the moment? also thank you for telling me about your aches and pains, I'm sorry to hear you also have them but it is nice to hear I'm not the only one, we are in this together!!

I'll keep you ladies posted on round 2. I'll try to make sure to drink enough this round!! Love to you both ️
