    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • Hey,

Thank you for all the info, it's so helpful. I'm terrible with general anaesthetic so dreading that part the most!

I went in with a lump and had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. They said at the time they were 50/50 as to whether it was cancer. My biopsy result showed no cancer but then did a vaccum biopsy to 'double check.'

The vacuum biopsy has detected invasive cancer. They said my breast tissue is really dense ( I have big boobs) and this is why they are doing an MRI so that they can see how much cancer is in there. They haven't named it yet but have just said stage 1-2 and said it's estrogen positive. She seems sure it's a small area but we'll see.

I only found my lump after Sarah Harding's death made me check. No idea how long it had been there. It's right underneath.

I'm so sorry about your dad. That is still very raw. Your poor mum. xx

  • Hi lucy

That's the part im dreading too the anaesthetic the pain you get shooting up your arm, then tbe unknown with all  this what will the pain be like, bruising, mood etc, its a dreadful thing to go through, i hate the feel of it after all the biolsies etc definitely doesnt feel like the other side, puncture wounds, and obviously things healing, then boom its an operation, its such a personal thing, invasion of your body thats private, i got nice bras, pants and pjs from prinark the breast cancer range its really nice! Dusky pink.

We are all different with our diagnoses and i pray theres nothing lurking about when they take away the radial scar, im on my last week of self isolating (demented) got to get my covid test on Friday then hospital 7.30am on Monday morning, cant fault the breast clinic or hospital, everyone so nice and on the ball, just be glad when its all over! As i said everyone on this page you are all angels im glad i joined in September everyone understands each other, a bunch of amazing, strong women who have experienced so much and here to tell the tale and still be so supportive to others on this horrible journey

    Love and hugs

    Karen

  • Bless you Karen,

Will be thinking of you Monday. Ooh will definitely be heading to primark to get some nice pj's and bras! That's it, we start to heal then it's on the the next thing!

Well I've managed a shower and actually got dressed. Something I didn't think I'd be able to do after only getting my diagnosis last night. Only had 3 hours sleep, can't wait for bed xx

  • Thank you Jolamine, I just hope to at least get my surgery type sorted. I'll keep you posted. Hope you're doing good. You don't have to answer this, but when the cancer came back and you ended up with masectomy, was that the same type again? Mickey Xx

  • Hi mickey

Hope all goes well be thinking about you

    Love and hugs

  •

    Hi Mickey,

Yes, my second cancer was grade 1, pure mucinous breast cancer - exactly the same as the first. The pathology results after my first surgery showed that my surgeon hadn't achieved a clear margin. My surgeon assured me that he had realised this at the time and taken more tissue away, so there was no need to carry out further surgery.

My personal feeling is that he still hadn't taken enough, but I was assured at the time of my second cancer that it was a new primary and not related to the first. I'm sure that you'll feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you Jolamine for sharing that with me. It is definitely a masectomy for me. I await an apt with plastic surgeon next and then hopefully I will get a surgery date. They're still aiming for before Christmas and I'm holding onto that. I just want the cancers out now. Thank you for thinking of me. Mickey xx

  • Hi Mickey

I really hope they start to move things quick now, I hope you're alright.

    Love Lisa xxx

  • Hi MickeyM,

If you are definitely having a mastectomy, I would advise you to look out a nightdress or pyjamas that open at the front. This is much easier than having to lift clothing over your head after surgery. Here's hoping that they do manage to fit you in before Christmas. I'm sure that you're just anxious to get it all over and done with now. Are you going to have reconstruction at the same time?

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Lisa, I'm so sorry, I thought I'd replied to you, but think I didn't - apologies, it wasn't intentional - head a bit over the place and do have a frozen shoulder now too (bloomin awful biopsies).  Well I've got an apt Friday am with plastic surgeon and so I hope things will finally start moving. Are your results tomorrow? Keeping everything crossed for you and apologies again. Love n hugs Mickey xx

  • Hi Mickey, no worries at all it's lovely to hear from you, not long now until Friday, it seems forever waiting for a plan, we could write a book on patience!

Had a pretty awful week after VAB and just received a phone call that my appointment today is cancelled and I'll get another appointment next week- feeling pretty low about it as I didn't sleep very well - worry and like you awful shoulder pain!

I hope and pray everything is in place for you on Friday and that you can begin treatment as soon as possible.

Take care of yourself, especially with the shoulder pain as well, sending you a huge but gentle hug and love

  • Hi Lisa, thanks for the reply. I'm so sorry they've cancelled your apt today, did they say why ? ? ? The wait is awful - do you know when next week or are they still trying to sort that?  Sleeping is so hard with the constant anxiety heightened by delays, but with painful shoulder too, believe me I feel your pain. Please don't do what I did and carry on ignoring the pain until it froze, it really is a significant problem now for me and I'd hate that to happen to you, Lisa xx

I'm hoping Friday will start getting into date mode, I'm not sure how any of us cope with these constant delays, but it's certainly trying.

I assume you found it impossible not to cling on for dear life with those biopsies too then - I'm so sorry, I was hoping to help deter you, but another impossibility.  Please look after your shoulder and yourself Lisa. I loved your closing hug and back at you xx ️ ️
