    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • I kept saying that when my mum was diagnosed, I just couldn't believe it or process it and remember walking around saying those words,  I kept saying it out loud in the supermarket down the cheese aisle and waiting in the playground of all places to say it, it is unbelievably surreal!!!

I've sent you a friend request and I just want you to know that if you need to talk or put the world to rights I'm good at listening.

We will get you through this Lucy, we really will - sending love to your family too xxxx

  • Oh Lucy! I am shocked and so sorry to hear this news.

It completely blindsides you doesn't it? I still walk around and say it in my head... "I have cancer", it makes no sense to me.

feel how you need to feel, don't try and be brave. It's crap and you are allowed to feel that.  I am also early steps of the journey so if you want to keep in touch, please do.

    sending lots of love xxx

  • I feel like I've been hit by a bus. X

  • Hi Lucy,

my name is Sarah, I have only just found this forum.
I am 38 and was diagnosed Two weeks ago. I was completely shocked, and literally fell to the floor.

I went on my own as the GP thought it was probably nothing, I had an ultrasound, biopsy and Mammogram and was told on the Day they suspected Cancer. I had a Lumpectomy last Tuesday and Lymph node biopsy and get my Full results on the 10th Nov. At the moment it's Stage 1a Grade 2, they have said radiotherapy, and I will also have Tamoxifen for 5 years as mine is Oestrogen Fed. Not sure about Chemo as they will see when is comes back exactly the plan.

I found the waiting to the worst. I think I will feel better when I know what I'm dealing with.

I have two young sons, my husband and I are also really down about it all. We both have just lost our Dads to cancer so this has made it all feel worse.

we will get through this we are young and we will be okay. I'm here if you need me x

    lots of Love Sarah

  • Hello Sarah,

Thank you so much for your message. What you have had done is my plan up to now as long as MRI comes back with no spread. My lymph nodes were clear on ultrasound so she said it should just be lumpectomy, radiotherapy and Tamoxifen for 5 years. All to be confirmed though.

I will be thinking about you on the 10th when you get results. I'll be having my pre op on that day.

I'm sorry about both of your dads. Cancer really is the absolute devil. I'm marrried and have two children too.

How is your recovery going after the lumpectomy?

    Lucy xx

  • Hi Lucy,

Thankyou for the kind Reply. Yes Cancer is a Devil, my Dad only passed away on the 15th September so was hard telling my mum.

I didn't have an MRI maybe that will follow, mine is invasive Ductal Carsinoma, it's in my breast tissue not in the duct anymore and is around 16mm , My Lymph nodes were also clear on the ultrasound but I think they do a biopsy while they are there just to be sure.( I know every case is different)

I found my lump in the summer but didn't do anything until October, so pleased I did as I didn't want too.

The lumpectomy has been fine, I have tiny boobs but make sure you get a good front fastening bra, mine was a post op bra from marks and spenders and is great , my husband took the week off as it was half term, it's the Anestetic knocked me for six,. My arm pit is the most Sore but it's very manageable.

sorry if too much information I do tend too ramble

I hope yours goes well, have you had any results back? Sorry if you have already been through this the feed is soo long.

    Love Sarah x

  • Hey,

Thank you for all the info, it's so helpful. I'm terrible with general anaesthetic so dreading that part the most!

I went in with a lump and had mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy. They said at the time they were 50/50 as to whether it was cancer. My biopsy result showed no cancer but then did a vaccum biopsy to 'double check.'

The vacuum biopsy has detected invasive cancer. They said my breast tissue is really dense ( I have big boobs) and this is why they are doing an MRI so that they can see how much cancer is in there. They haven't named it yet but have just said stage 1-2 and said it's estrogen positive. She seems sure it's a small area but we'll see.

I only found my lump after Sarah Harding's death made me check. No idea how long it had been there. It's right underneath.

I'm so sorry about your dad. That is still very raw. Your poor mum. xx

  • Hi lucy

That's the part im dreading too the anaesthetic the pain you get shooting up your arm, then tbe unknown with all  this what will the pain be like, bruising, mood etc, its a dreadful thing to go through, i hate the feel of it after all the biolsies etc definitely doesnt feel like the other side, puncture wounds, and obviously things healing, then boom its an operation, its such a personal thing, invasion of your body thats private, i got nice bras, pants and pjs from prinark the breast cancer range its really nice! Dusky pink.

We are all different with our diagnoses and i pray theres nothing lurking about when they take away the radial scar, im on my last week of self isolating (demented) got to get my covid test on Friday then hospital 7.30am on Monday morning, cant fault the breast clinic or hospital, everyone so nice and on the ball, just be glad when its all over! As i said everyone on this page you are all angels im glad i joined in September everyone understands each other, a bunch of amazing, strong women who have experienced so much and here to tell the tale and still be so supportive to others on this horrible journey

    Love and hugs

    Karen

  • Bless you Karen,

  • I'm so glad it went well

I think you've done absolutely amazing, your situation has been going on for such a long time,  it takes some going waiting all that time!

Ooohhh can only imagine the soreness, my breast is so bruised from the VAB I'm having to prop it with a pillow to get some sleep relief! Did they say how long healing takes?

Watch something nice and rest and recuperate Karen - you may not realise it but you've gone through such a lot

Let me know how you get on xxx
