    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Mariacharlie,

What a pity. Waiting for results is always one of the worst times and, every extra day seems like forever. I hope that you get them through soon.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Sarah,

I'm so glad to hear that no more nasties were found with your MRI. You've got quite a wait for your genetics consultation, but I hope that it all goes well. You will feel better to get your lumpectomy out of the way as soon as possible, so it's good to hear that you don't have too long to wait.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Moira,

You will naturally be nervous, but it'll soon be over and, you'll wonder what all the worry was about.

I hope that it all goes well for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Nikki,

Sorry, I thought that it was last Thursday. I hope that it all goes well for you. It is always hard to quell our over imaginative thoughts re worst case scenario, but fortunately, this very seldom comes to pass. It does get easier once you have a treatment plan in place and start implementing it.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Jane,

I'm glad to hear that you have had your tumour removed and hope that you are feeling ok. We are fortunate to have routine mammography to pick up on these symptoms early, lthough I'm sure that the diagnosis came as a shock. Do you know what type of breast cancer you have? Grade 1 is good news and is treatable, which is the important thing.

I hope that all goes well for you tomorrow.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Nikki

Thanks for thinking about me, my results ftom the mammogram core biopsy are delayed so I'm back in that dark zone of navigating through life whilst this 'thing' lurks in my head.

Had a bit of a chat with the consultant who explained that I had a small chalky spot in my breast that was graded an M3 - hence the reason for the biopsies but it sounded better than how the radiologist and mammogram technicians described it and it was caught by chance as I went in about a swollen armpit & lymph node.

I just want to say I'm thinking about you, I don't have any tips to help you switch off from this as the process of waiting is undeniably indescribable.

Sending you a loving hug and I wait with anticipation for your results  on Thursday

    Love from Lisa xxx

  • Thank you Rosie, you are truly so kind hearted and I'm honestly so grateful for you, I did feel like I'm not alone in this process and felt brave and strong as I sat waiting and waiting as I thought of you having to go through this on Wednesday and I thought of Lucy at 3pm. It enabled me to switch my brain to practical mode until he said the results were delayed then I burst into tears and used up all the scratchy kitchen paper they offered me!

I hope that you manage to sleep tonight, I found the last few days the hardest, let me know what time you are being seen

I'm with you Rosie , good luck

  • Hi Jolimine,

Its invasive ductal carcinoma. I've had lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy....my lymph nodes looked fine on the scan so I'm hoping they're clear.

    Hi Jane,

This all sounds fairly positive. Here's hoping that you get good news today.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine,

I had my follow up appt today and was told the tumour was 19mm grade 2. My lymph nodes were clear and there was a clear margin around the tumour. I'll be having radiotherapy and take letrozole for 10 years. This all sounds quite positive so I'm relieved. I still have some anxiety about it coming back but hope my fears will ease as living on your nerves is exhausting! Thanks for your replies and best wishes to everyone.

    Hi Jane,

I am delighted to hear that your lympg nodes and margins are both clear. This must be a relief for you.

Radiotherapy and Letrozole are both a challenge, but are 'doable'. We all worry about recurrence but this is something that we have to learn to live with.

    Keep in touch.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi June,

How did you check up with the consultant go on 20th? Did he have any advice about your hormone tablets and what about your treatment plan?

I hope that you're less sore now and coping better.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Ladies

I hope you don't mind me invading the chat , I've been reading through and you all seem so lovely.  I was recalled to the breast clinic on 15th October after my 1st mammogram and ended up having 3 core biopsies and a vacuum biopsy. I've been referred directly to my local hospital who are seemingly having a meeting about me tomorrow and will then contact me.  I felt I was doing fine with it all until I had a total meltdown yesterday & today hasn't been too much better.  My friends & work have been great but i just feel a bit like they don't get it.

  • Hi Val, I'm sorry to hear this, I didn't get recalled after a mammogram as I found a lump first, but my mammogram showed microcalcifications and so like you I had a core biopsy (but on the lump) and four weeks later a steriotactic vacuum assist biopsies under mammogram, for which I'm still waiting the results from those latest ones. We will all totally understand the emotions you are feeling, it's such a rollercoaster. Have they said how and when they will contact you after the meeting tomorrow? Thinking of you and here with any support you need - hugs Mickey x

  • Hi Mickey

Thank you so much for replying & your lovely comments, it's nice to be speaking to people that are in this situation so I know they get it.  The consultant at the breast clinic took my contact number however she said that the hostel would either call or write to me.  Its the waiting that's the difficult part. I feel like I just want to get on with it , whatever it may be.  I know my friend & family try to understand but I also know they struggle with what to say half the time.

    Val xx

  • Hi Val,

Youre more than welcome, that waiting is sooo difficult. In my case I do know it's cancer now, but I don't know the full extent yet.  I know I really struggled waiting for the first set of results. Originally my consultant said he wouldn't tell me anything until they had them all and that was going to be circa six weeks. However, when the lump results came back positive they wrote to me with a breast surgery clinic apt, which at the time knocked me for six.  All the support on this site has helped me better manage the anxiety and know we're not alone in this journey, no matter how different our results may be.
I totally get what you mean, I've had to learn to better manage their feelings, as it is so hard for them too and we all do this in different ways x

I hope you don't have to wait too long and keep posting if it helps you. Hugs Mickey xx

    Hi Val,

A very warm welcome to our forum.

Try not to worry. More people get called back after their first mammogram than after any other. This is because the radiologists don't have anything to compare your images to. The MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting is a routine meeting held by your consultant to discuss the results of all the scans and biopsies prior to giving you your results and care plan if needed.

Unfortunately, the way you felt yesterday and today is all part and parcel of this waiting process. It is not at all unusual to find yourself an emotional wreck. Many of us find ourselves crying and very short tempered. Crying is not a bad thing, as it is a great stress reliever.  Irrespective of which way your results go, you will find it easier to cope once you know what you are up against

I do hope that you will hear soon after tomorrow's meeting, as the unknown is a scary place to be. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolmine xx
