    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • Hi Everyone, I hope you all don't mind me gate crashing, I've read through the post and feel like you are all a lovely bunch.

I was diagnosed with invasive grade 3 + Dcis 2 weeks ago, last week they told me it was triple negative so will need chemo.  I'm also getting a genetics blood test with the triple neg result and being under 50 (I'm 46).

at the minute I'm waiting on a mri,  but the waiting for everything is a killer you mind just goes to places you didn't even know existed!
3 weeks ago I was just getting on with my life, until I got the recall from a yearly mammogram.

    HI Sarah,

You are more than welcome to join us. I so am sorry to hear of your diagnosis. Is there a reason for you having yearly mammograms before you reach 50? I know that this is not the news you wanted, but it is treatable. Have you any plans for surgery yet or are you starting with chemo?

I agree that waiting is one of the worst parts of this whole process - we nearly all find this. Our imaginations also play havoc, which doesn't help. It shouldn't be much longer until all of your tests are over and you have a planned route forward. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thanks so much Jolamine,

yes it seems we all struggle with the waits,  I was having yearly checks as I'm classed as high risk with a few family members on my fathers side getting breast cancer at a young age.

I'll be glad when things get moving, depending on genetics test it will either be lumpectomy or if positive double mastectomy.

  • Hi June,

you sound like you are in so much pain, I wish I could help you somehow.

Are you on regular pain relief?
    Sarah xx

  •

    Hi June,

It sounds as if you are having a hard time. I'm glad to hear that you've got some antibiotics prescribed, despite the side-effects they cause. Once you start a course, you shouls always complete it, so do try to perservere.

Did you manage to get a shower today? I'm sure that you'll feel better once you do. If you don't feel confident about taking a wash, why not phone your breast care nurse and ask for her advice? - This is just the sort of situation that she is there for. You are bound to be scared about the results, but worry won't change the outcome.

    HI Sarah,

It doesn't help when there is a family history of breast cancer. I lost my mum to secondary breast cancer before I was diagnosed. Fortunately, treatment has come along leaps and bounds since then.

I had a lumpectomy first time and a double mastectomy second time around, so am happy to help you if I can.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine

Sorry for not replying sooner, missed your message back, i hope you got on ok at the dentist abd are able to enjoy your time away, mouths still sore phoned the debtist yesterday ssid it  an take up to 2 weeks for pain, but filling then extraction so quite a bit of trauma they said and because i have fibromyalgia the pain is heightened anyway, sick looking at solphadol! the phrase doing my *** in springs to mind lol talking of doing my *** in lol im going to hospital on Tuesday morning 9am to get the mag seed put in so dont think its going to be to long now for surgery to have this radial scar taken out, find out then if its attached to the breast wall see if anything sinister is going on behind it hoping not obviously! Cant wait till its all over, if everything is benign what a journey it has been and i take my hat off to every one of you what you have all went through and going through, the love life is still going well never met such a supportive man who has came into my life and is non judgemental and very caring, it has certainly helped even though i have friends and family, I always say everything happens for a reason so heres hoping everything works out

    Love Karen xxxx

  • Hi! I just wanted to say that I had a very similar experience to yours just this morning. I was referred to the breast clinic with a small lump, though my gp wasn't too concerned. The consultant didn't seem worried and was convinced it was benign (probably a cyst). But the radiologist clearly didn't agree. Ordered biopsies, said she was worried, then started talking about breast cancer nurses and support and what a shock it must be for me. My brain couldn't quite process what was being said. Won't get the results of the biopsies for a week or two but it seems as though everyone has already moved on with a cancer diagnosis. How did your results turn out? How are you doing now? I hope things are ok x

  • Hi I'm 40 and went to go just over a week ago as I have been getting boob pain in both of my boobs any way have a examination nurse couldn't feel nothing but sent me to breast clinic went there on Thursday seen doctor who again couldn't feel nothing said it probably hormones as I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago so had mamorgam and ultrasound ...but they picked up a mass on left breast it looked black on screen and sort of rectangular so they have done a biopsy is was in shock because I was really made to feel there was nothing I'm now so scared ...my only comfort is I had a CT and full MRI before my hysterectomy and there was nothing then I had hysterectomy due to high number of pre cancer cells on my smear any one had anything similar

  • Morning MariaCharlie, I'm sorry to read this, must be a shock having been through your hysterectomy to find yourself here.  Have you been given a next appointment for the results of your biopsy yet? If not, I hope you do soon. I note you say you had pre cancerous cells previously before your hysterectomy and so I was just wondering if they also gave you a mammogram? I know they don't tend to if under 50, although I had my first one at 47, so I just wondered whether they were just waiting for biopsy results or doing further tests also? I didn't see my own ultrasound, but my sister came with me and said it looked like a rock and had rectangular edges. I can't comment if that means anything or not - im having further biopsies this week. Hard as it is, you won't know for sure until you get your results. Xx I hope that helps a little and sending virtual hugs xx

  • Hey no this was my first mamorgam and honestly never expected to hear they found anything....I'm waiting on biopsy results I've got appointment on Thursday but said they won't know to wednesday if results will be in so will have to wait and see my hysterectomy was a elective surgery because I had a high chance or the cancer cells turning so made desion to have hysterectomy and Ive been fine since ...I'm just hoping that even if it is cancer it's been caught early it's the wait that's horrible I've 4 children and my youngest is only 6 just need to know so I can move forward with it all

  • Hi, I'm keeping everything crossed that the results are in for Thursday.  I know what you mean and totally understand. The additional worry of still having such a young family, must be hard. I'm sending positivity your way - keep posting if it helps - I find it helps, but we're all different, I know x Mickey xx

  • Thank you it dose help when are your results due xx

  • Hi, I do now (just) know it's cancer from first biopsies/mammogram etc, but second biopsies will make a difference to my treatment plan - I'm hoping that 2-3 weeks. I will know it all - the waiting is hard for everyone xx

  • I'm sorry did they say it was likely to be cancer when they did biopsy ? All the waiting around is the hardest part I think xx

  • They didn't comment but me and my sister thought it was from all the reactions I was getting - especially when they told me that mammogram also showed microcalcifications xx it's really hard to tell from the ultrasound I think, there are so many types of cancer and a lot of them look like other types of cysts on ultrasound, so I've been told..... they can never be really sure until they get the biopsy results xx waiting around is definitely the hardest part, you're not alone though xx

  • No true I'm just hoping it's good news but trying to function do every day stuff is hard just doing kids uniforms and then I'm thinking I want to be around to there old enough to take care of them self's I know I'm over thinking this but it was a total shock I wasn't expecting them find anything after I had been examined twice and told they felt nothing and I was on my own didn't ask any questions at all just kept saying yes and thank you it was like I wasn't there strange feeling ...how are you finding it xx

  • Hi, I'm hoping it's good news for you too. It's really hard to function and only natural for your brain to overthink everything. Try to be kind to yourself and accept that it's impossible to just carry on as before and that's ok. I'm the sort of person that needs to know what I'm dealing with and so at least I now know. But I'm in shock, body and brain keeps going into shutdown, but I know that's natural too! Just keep trying to stay positive and give myself one problem at a time to deal with, so I feel I have some control xx hope that helps you too xx
