Im waiting on breast biopsy results, i get them on monday, the waiting is just dreadful, sometimes your gut feeling tells you what you know but this time i just dont know! Anyone feel or felt the same?
I'm delighted for you. This news is about as good as it can get. I know that you won't relax until you have the operation and can be absolutely certain, but it's a step in the right direction.
Thinking about you today Karen. Good to hear no cancer on biopsies, you will be relieved to hear that. 5 weeks to wait will feel long but it will soon come around!!
Got my hormone results today and it's not receptive to hormones so good in that 3 weeks tomorrow they go ahead with lumpectomy . It's precancer ( DCIS) and consultant said he will remove tissue below nipple on that side and scar will be a curved T shape. I'll have to have radiotherapy for a year after that. I'm grateful prognosis seems to be good and it's been caught early and now I know what I'm dealing with I feel a little better, just for today. I went to M&S yesterday to double check bra size and have to say they are wonderful there if anyone is thinking about that. Thank you for the update. This is great news that your tissue is still pre-cancerous, although not so good that it's not hormone receptive. I expect that you'll find it a little easier to cope with now that you know what you have to deal with. It will be a trying year, but by this time next year all the travelling and treatment will be behind you and, you can get back to living your life normally again.
I'm glad to hear that you only have 3 weeks to wait for your lumpectomy and hope that all goes well for you. M & S are good for post-surgery and supportive bras. Don't forget that you should qualify to buy them VAT free too.
I don't understand the hormone thing either- all I know is that I won't need to take medication for a while before the op ( presumably to ensure it is less likely to spread from tbe ducts?) so that means they can go ahead asap. rather than waiting for that to kick in. When you say " not so good" it's not hormone receptive is that what you mean ? It's more active as it were? Yikes. It's classed as level 0 but I was reading today about a TV presenter who has what I have and is going for a mastectomy. I think it's a high level DCIS and my consultant said a lumpectomy should hopefully get it all.

Bag packed. Off for a soak....transport picks me up around 7.15 xx I think I am on the afternoon list xxx am dreading it....hope they manage to find sentinel node and remove...and there is nothing there...plus clear margins when they remove my breast and nipple xxxx
Testing for hormone receptors is important because the results help you and your doctor decide whether the cancer is likely to respond to hormonal therapy or other treatments. Hormonal therapy includes medications that either (1) lower the amount of oestrogen in your body or (2) block oestrogen from supporting the growth and function of breast cells. If the breast cancer cells have hormone receptors, then these medications could help to slow or even stop their growth. If the cancer is hormone-receptor-negative (no receptors are present), then hormonal therapy is unlikely to work. Roughly two out of every three breast cancers test positive for hormone receptors(cancer.org).
