    Hi Karenk,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 12 years, plus a few false alarms, so I have been through a number of biopsies. All I can say, is that the wait never gets any easier. Most of us would say that this is one of the worst parts of our cancer journey, as thereare so many unknowns and uncertainties.

I am glad to hear that you don't have much longer to wait. Try to keep yourself occupied with other distractions to help the time to pass a little quicker over the weekend.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi just joined this site reading different comments such an agonising wait for results I'm awaiting my appointment to see if my treatment has worked you feel so lonely at this moment hope all works out for you hang on in there my love thoughts are with you

  • Hi Karen,

I was new to forum yesterday and posted my first post.  Lovely Jolamine responded (thank you Jolamine) and sent me a link for the thread.

Firstly, I just want to say good luck for your results tomorrow.  I've read the thread, but must confess to having lost the plot as to how long since the stereotactic biopsy to getting your results tomorrow?

I'm struggling to be honest and it's definitely the waiting that's causing it.  I found a hard lump, lower right quadrant of right breast. No idea how long it's been there, I just randomly woke up one morning and decided to check my breasts.  It was obviously my subconscious telling me too and lesson learnt in that respect, will definitely start checking my breasts regularly now.  Anyway, I had my first breast clinic apt on Tuesday and had the examination, mammogram, ultrasound and then biopsy where they took three samples from lump and put the marker in. I was told results would be 1-2 weeks and sent off to wait to see consultant.

consultant told me that they'd also found microcalcifications in the same breast that weren't there in a previous mammogram in 2017 (but didn't mention the mammogram I had during pandemic last year).  He told me that he was sending me for a stereotactic biopsy on the microcalcifications and that apt would take up to two weeks.  He then told me that he won't give me the results of the biopsies on the lump until he has results from the microcalcifications- timescale has have given me before I know anything is six weeks.

im trying but failing to keep calm, can't help thinking one thing in breast may be benign but two - what are the chances?

Also heard that cancerous lumps show up as white on ultrasound, but no idea of that's true - any ideas?

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow Karen xx

thank you to everyone for posting on here, it's such a comfort. I was feeling so alone xx

  • Hi Karen,

that's really great news that they found no cancer on the biopsies xx I confess I will need to look up radial scars x

    Keep us posted X

I'm having a bit of a meltdown the 'within two weeks' timescale Consultant gave me for the stereotactic biopsy has not happened and I've just been give an apt for 16th November - I'm beside myself x barely functioning as it is without HRT too, not sleeping and demanding job, I'm struggling x

I rang breast unit and was asked who consultant was (like I got his name). I was told someone would ring me back and that was 11am - nothing ‍♀️Xx

Trying to laugh - thank God they haven't banned wine yet xx

    Hi Karen,

I'm delighted for you. This news is about as good as it can get. I know that you won't relax until you have the operation and can be absolutely certain, but it's a step in the right direction.

    Love,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thinking about you today Karen. Good to hear no cancer on biopsies, you will be relieved to hear that.  5 weeks to wait will feel long but it will soon come around!!

    hugs

  • Got my hormone results today and it's not receptive to hormones so good in that  3 weeks tomorrow they go ahead with lumpectomy . It's precancer ( DCIS) and consultant said he will remove tissue below nipple on that side and scar will be a curved T shape. I'll have to have radiotherapy for a year after that.  I'm grateful prognosis seems to be good and it's been caught early and now I know what I'm  dealing with I feel a little better, just for today.
I went to M&S yesterday to double check bra size and have to say they are wonderful there if anyone is  thinking about that.
Thank you Jolamine for being here for everyone, and to those I've been chatting to. We are all on our journey separately and together and bless you all

    love and hugs

  • Hi moira

So good they have caught things early with you and you will get your op soon, everyone is on separate journeys but great we are there for each other

    Love karen xx

  •

    Hi Moira,

Thank you for the update. This is great news that your tissue is still pre-cancerous, although not so good that it's not hormone receptive. I expect that you'll find it a little easier to cope with now that you know what you have to deal with. It will be a trying year, but by this time next year all the travelling and treatment will be behind you and, you can get back to living your life normally again.

I'm glad to hear that you only have 3 weeks to wait for your lumpectomy and hope that all goes well for you. M & S are good for post-surgery and supportive bras. Don't forget that you should qualify to buy them VAT free too.

    Regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi

I don't understand this hormone thing...mine is invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 ER positive Her2 negative

I have my pre opp , sentinel node injection etc...the opp tomz,  I really hope they get all the cancer out...and there is nothing in lymph nodes xx

    Hugs everyone xx

    June

  • I don't understand the hormone thing either- all I know is that I won't need to take medication for a while before the op ( presumably to ensure it is less likely to  spread from tbe ducts?) so that means they can go ahead asap. rather than waiting for that to kick in.
When you say " not so good" it's not hormone receptive is that what you mean ? It's more active as it were? Yikes.
It's classed as level 0 but I was reading today about a TV presenter who has what I have and is going for a mastectomy.  I think it's a high level DCIS and my consultant said a lumpectomy should hopefully get it all.

  • Hello June,

Sending you hugs lovely lady. I am thinking about you today and tomorrow and sending good vibes xxx
