Parents
  • It's a club no one wants to be a part of but you are not alone. I lost my dad when I was 15. My mum was my rock, my best friend and my confidante after that. She died suddenly just over 3 weeks ago, only 3 days after her advanced lung cancer diagnosis. I'm 32 and have lost both parents and it makes me so sad and angry. All of my friends still have both of their parents and although I know they want to help, they simply don't know what to do or say as they have no idea of the pain I'm going through right now. I'm no one's daughter anymore and I'm heartbroken.

I'm new to this grief and don't have any advice to give you other than to please reach out to me if you need to speak to someone going through a similar experience. Cancer is cruel and unfair but you're not alone in your grief.

  • Im so sorrh to hear all of that dexter123.
Thats what im scared of not knowing how long even though im in the care business and know exactly what is happening my brain has just gone to mush when it comes to dad. And its also the knowing aswell i think.
its already been a month since hes got given 3-6months.. and hes gone down big time already.. so yeah i dont know..

its exactly what you said.. now you dont have any parents and thats the most heartbreaking bit.. that i will have no parents by the time i am 30, sounds selfish..

everyone is all very nice and friendly and here for you.. but no1 knows wxactly what your going through or feeling unless houve been through it yourself..

sorry i am just going on now and non stop talking.. but thank you I appreciate it x

  • 100% true every one is lovely and looking out for you but know one knows this pain until it happens to you. I always thought I was prepared but nothing prepares you when it finally happens . My mum had an awful last week she had been in the hospice a long time and they were fab but her last week was so awful and distressing for her and me and it's something I can't unsee or get my head around . I kept thinking she's suffered for 27 months you are going to take her anyway so why are you doing this ?! I am a catholic ans have tried to keep my faith throughout but it's so so hard I'm so angry xx

  • Just wanted to say hello and express my condolences to you lappy2301 and Dexter123. If you ever feel you need more support, Cruse offer some valuable resources and also a helpline.

Langer93 I'm very sorry to hear about your dad and how this is making you feel. There is some information here which might be helpful with coping and preparing.

It's lovely to see you supporting each other, do keep speaking to others around you and on the forum.

Take care and my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time,
