Worried

Hi I am new here and I went to the drs today for a smear test and they found a mass/erosion on my cervix. They are referring me to an emergency gynaecologist within 2 weeks but I am terrified their faces said it all that it didn't look good.

My white blood cells are slightly low which is worrying me even more as that can usually be linked to cancer. I suffer terrible health anxiety and i have two kids with needs who rely on me for everything.

I've been getting a lot of abdominal pain and pelvic pain and change in bowel habits so I am putting two and two together and thinking the worst its the waiting thats really concerning me at the moment. Can I ask what people's symptoms were who have had cervix cancer and is survival rate low I am terrified

  • Hello Sara39

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently had some health concerns which have resulted in the GP referring you to see the Consultant. It's understandable that you're feeling anxious about things. I think most of our members here will know how difficult this period of waiting for appointments and more information can be.

At times like this, it can often help to talk things through with someone and I wonder if you'd find it beneficial to talk to one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support ahead of your appointment. If you'd like to chat with them they're back in the office after the bank holiday on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm).

I hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment and that the Consultant is able to give you some reassurance about things.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
