Recovering after surgery

I was diagnosed with DCIS on March 25 and underwent surgery on 15th April. I am healing as I should be but sometimes I get a cold tingly feeling from the breast that spreads through the body. I am also struggling with the numbness in the breast. Has anyone got any advice in how to alleviate the numb feeling please. Ive also had a few days post surgery where I have just sat and cried, emotionally I feel like a dish rag.

    Hi Lashy,

    A very warm welcome to our forum. I am glad to hear that your surgery is behind you and that you are healing well. Keep doing your exercises, as this is imperative to get you back to normal as soon as possible. The numbness should gradually begin to disappear. 
    Please don't worry about your emotional state and crying so much. This all comes with the territory, but crying is a great stress-reliever and your emotional state will slowly begin to improve. Are you having any further treatment post-surgery?

    Hi I had left breast lumpectomy and SNLB on 21st April. The breast tenderness is starting to ease but the underarm discomfort is worse. I do the exercises and wear a sports bra 24/7 which is not pleasant and like you get that cold tingly feeling sometimes. 

    Do you wear a decent support bra this will help the numbness as it will restric movement etc. Like all surgeries the area affected will be numb for a while. 

    There are times I want to cry but just can't as it feels so surreal it's happening to me. I'm also grieving for my mum who passed away in January so just feel lost.

    Hi, 

    I'm just over 2 weeks post breast surgery and sentinel node biopsy, everything you're describing I have felt too, the numbness and tingling does wear off, it is a very weird sensation but is all normal, keep doing your exercises to keep supple otherwise you'll seize up.

    Get in touch with your breast care nurse, they are amazing and are there to help you with any problems or worries you may have.

    Have you had your post op appointment yet? You can also chat with your surgeon and/or nurse and raise any worries with them.

    You are not alone...its an emotional rollercoaster, but dont let the down days overtake the good days, I know its easier said than done but try and keep positive,  you have overcome the first hurdle...you can do this xx
