Prostate Cancer Newbie - hello

Hi everyone, just signed on today. I've prostate cancer diagnosed a year ago last month. Hoping to get some help & to give it if possible.

  • Hi there is a few of us with prostate cancer or been cured and still come in forum to help others, remember we're not medically trained just learning from experience.one is [@woodworm]‍  he had hormone therapy and radiotherapy. Then [@telemando]‍  he had his out robotic surgery then me mine was to far spread, lymph nodes spine ribs pelvis and a lung.  So hormone Therapy for life and chemotherapy originally diagnosed Feb 2016 PSA 1580 classed as palative care,it took two years to go down to 0.03 then rose slowly till last year it started rising fast so stronger hormone therapy now its0.6so not bad . first 2years I was still working metal fabrication and welding firm then my darling wife was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Alzheimer's and couldn't walk so I become a full time carer.

I think between the three of us we should be able to give you some information and you should be able to give us some,we have others on forum as well now and again.

New cumbers could do with information most of the time and you should have plenty to pass on.

Best wishes for the future keep safe.

    Billy

  • Hi Billy. Thanks for your reply. So sorry to hear about your wife, my mum had dementia & dad nursed her for 15 odd years. We lived miles away but were down every week to give him a break. So stay safe & strong mate.

I have a condition called Neurofunctional Disorder [NFD], it is very similar to Motor Neurone Disease though not fatal. So I can only have the Hormone jab as that really slows me down for a week or 3 after. It means I have gone from walking 5 mile a day, I was a keen Nordic Walker, to using a wheelchair/mobility scooter to get out & about. But the jab is working & PSA down to 0.2 for past 6 months so fingers crossed.

As you say we are here to help so if you need to chat about your wife we have been there & may be able to help. You stay strong & safe mate.
