Hi,
I posted this a couple of days but as of yet, no replies! I'll try agai, hopefully in the right place this time.
I'm not sure if I'm supposed to use this forum or not, so please let me know if I'm not allowed to use it.
I'm just asking people who have had experience for advice really and ideas of what we should expect.
A few weeks ago my partner discovered a fair sized lump in the side of his neck. He eventually saw a nurse practitioner after almost 3 weeks of waiting. The following week he received a hospital letter.
I went with him and the consultant examined him and put a camera up his nose and into his throat. He discovered another 'lump' at the base of my partners tongue. However, he then referred to it as a tumour. He said that this could be one of two things, either viral cancer or something else, he said if it is the something else, then the neck lump would have come from the tumour. Since then my partner has had an X-ray, a CT scan and MRI scan, both with contrast. Next week he has to have an Ultrasound with needle aspiration and the following week he has to have a biopsy under general anaesthesia. Then back to see the consultant.
Obvious we are very worried, he seems to think everything will be ok, I definitely don't, especially as his father was diagnosed with oral cancer at his age and died 3yrs later. My partner is only 53. I'm so worried and can't relax about it as we are just in limbo at the moment.
He is not unwell, he has had no symptoms except for finding the lump.
Thank you for reading
