Hi

I had a liver resection to remove a cricket ball size bowel tumour on 11/1/21.

I am 76 years old.

I have a 6-inch long scar under my ribs which is very painful.

How long should this pain continue.?

I was only given paracetamol in hospital as a pain killer and discharged on 13th.

Hi Pete.
You should make an appointment with your GP to discuss how the scar is healing and any pain relief you might need.

Thank you for your reply.
It is almost impossible to get to see a GP here at the moment.
I am having the suture removed on Tuesday by a practice nurse and may be able to get access via that route.

Hi Pete.
GPs should still be running some kind of service. In my area, you phone at 8am or 1pm, and the receptionist arranges for a GP to call you back. The GP then decides whether you need to go in for a face to face consultation.
The nurse will certainly be able to tell if the would is infected or not, and should be able to give you more guidance from there.
