Sudden lump driving myself insane

Hi ... this is my first post......

I have a fairly complicated gyne history .... the result I'm 29 and on zoladex injections awaiting a hytroectomy

I found a lump in my left breast  very suddenly its about a inch above my nipple pretty much in the centre of my breast on top its doesnt move it doesn't hurt although if I try to squish it my shoulder and under my arm aches ...its almost eye shaped .... nothing else has changed

Iv read zoldex is used to treat breast cancer so I'm guessing it can't be cancer ??  bt the gp new this and still did a urgent refferal ??? I also take hrt ? (I was originally told you can't stay on zoldex for more than 6 months I'm just about too have my 13th injection due to covid and delays)  .... could the lump be caused by the zoldex and menopause or the hrt .... it just doesn't sound or feel like any of the benign breast conditions I can find and I'm starting to panic massively don't no how I'm going to get through the next 5 days my brain just  won't function or think about anything else  ... ....just find myself looking for things that  it cld be that wldnt cause any problems ... bt There doesn't seem to be anything that fits

I have appointment on Thursday..... I can't think straight or concentrate but then get angry at myself because I'm sure it will be nothing and il of ruined everyone's week for nothing

Any advice or anything appreciated

  • Hi Mumel.

I'm not a doctor and I have no medical qualifications.

The price of being cancer aware is that we have to endure referrals for things are probably benign but which might be sinister.  GPs really don't have much leeway when it comes to making referrals, and any unexplained breast changes are likely to get an urgent referral; after all, no one blames a GP who makes a referral for something which eventually turns out benign, but no one forgives a GP who misses something serious...

So with that said, and bearing in mind my complete and utter lack of qualifications, there are two pieces of information which I hope you'll find comforting:  most lumps turn out to be harmless, and 9 out of 10 of all urgent cancer referrals turn out NOT to be cancer.
