DCIS - First Yearly Mammogram

Hi there, I was diagnosed with high grade DCIS in Nov 2019.  I had a wide local incision to remove 36mm.  There was. 2mm on all sides except on which had 1mm margin so had reincision to shave another 1mm and that was clear too.  Radiotherapy followed last March.  Next week is my first mammogram post op and it is just stirring up all the memories from last year.  I suffer with anxiety anyway so my stress levels are through the roof.  I feel guilty because it was caught early so I am lucky but I think the anxiety has just taken over.  Any advice?  julie

  • Hi Julie

its perfectly understandable that you feel anxious. Feelings of anxiety about anything are not easy to manage. What do you usually do if you feel anxious? Have you tried it? Talking often helps and I guess that's why you posted. Have you got people to talk to? It's better out than in. What do you do with your worries? Do you share them?
Your cancer was caught early so you were lucky. That's great and you're being screened to see if you've remained free. Two good things already Always good to get the facts then you can decide on action. I hope you managed to get some sleep
