Colonoscopy

Hi everyone. Iam looking for help and advice. I've seen my GP today and he. Has requested that I have colonoscopy because of change of bowel movements and I've had bleeding twice now in the last 3 months with a movement but not in the stools but on the outside of the stools and in the pan . I've had other issues aswell like constipation wind . Bloating and lately a slight niggling pain on the left hand side of my stomach. My GP checked my belly and was happy with it  but I've suffered my piles and a fissure . But iam convinced its something more and reading the symptom checker on the sites it says it colon cancer . Iam 56 yr male. But iam I over thinking but iam very depressed and down as iam thinking the worse

  • Hi,

I'm in the same position as yourself. I'm just waiting on a colonoscopy appointment date. I've had similar symptoms to yourself and of course googled them and read colorectal cancer. I got myself into such a state I broke down at the school gates waving to my daughter I convinced myself I wouldn't get to see her grow up. I've since'tried' to calm down because I was making myself worse. It's a horrible situation  waiting. I've had lots of helpful advice on here and spoke to the colorectal Nurse at the hospital. Your feelings are very normal but you're not alone x

  • Hi Ian

I think you are doing the right thing and teaching out to a forum. Looking on support websites is a good idea. I hope you get your appointment soon and then you will know what you are dealing with. Better to find out. I had a colonoscopy yesterday and the procedure wasn't as bad as bad as I thought it would be. The news for me wasn't great but I hope yours is better
