Letrozole Advice Please

Hi
I had breast cancer back in 2012. Have  been taking Tamoxifen until 3 months  ago as my consultant wanted me to start the Letrozole so I had blood tests to make sure I had gone through my menopause 2 weeks ago ( I am now 53yrs old) . Blood test were good so I was prescribed the Letrozole which I started taking last Tuesday 22nd December. The symptoms I have are muscle pain in my lower back, hips and legs and back of neck , fatigue and a loss of appetite. I am a Tennis Coach and work many hours coaching so have a physical job . I am fit and keep fit too. I am finding now that since I have been taking this drug I feel awful ! I did get Covid19 7weeks ago and didn’t feel as bad as I feel now . Is there any advice out there that can help with combating these symptoms I have since taking Letrozole? I am also taking vitamin D3 and calcium tablets daily too . Thanks

  • Hello Amida,

Sorry to hear issues you been having with Letrozole. I cant recommend anything but just say that I am also 53 - diagnosed 2 months ago with cancer in both breasts. I was put on Letrozole last month given to me at the hospital. I finished that supply a week or so ago - got a new batch prescribed by GP - brand different and been having issues - itchy rash, hot flushes, aching joints(legs), trouble sleeping(this is the most difficult). Just wrote to breast nurse - see what she recommends. I would also welcome any advice on how best to combat these symptoms - as looks like I will be on Letrozole or something similar for some years.

  • ..... sorry meant to say . If you are getting aches in your legs and hip muscles use a foam roller . It hurts as roll on it but it takes away a lot if the tightness and tension you will feel a lot better after you have rolled out .
