Hi sorry this post is for giggsy but please feel free to reply x

  • Hi AJD

Yes-I had bad pelvic pain, and on off bleeding. My cancer had probably been growing for at least 10 years, maybe even longer. Cervical cancer is typically slow growing, but I have no way of knowing how long it was there.

Low grade dyskariosis is a very different thing, and of course not cancer.

  • Thanks Minska you are so encouraging to speak to you don't worry about this now do you?

  • I absolutely do NOT worry about things which may never happen...I say it’s like sitting in a rocking chair...gives you something to do but doesn’t get you anywhere!

But it’s dangerous to try and compare yourself to anyone else and their symptoms because everyone is in a different situation with a different diagnosis. For example, I had a tumour visible to the naked eye when I was examined, so it was obvious I had cancer. I never even worried for a second about having HPV, not once as it’s so common. I was just unlucky it caused my cancer. I would have loved to be told I had low grade changes because that’s very straight forward to deal with. Don’t go looking for anything worse!

  • My cancer had been growing for a while. I can't say how long but they say 10-15 years.  My smears had always been clear as it was so far up my cervix, they didn't know when I was first diagnosed whether it was cervical or uterus cancer due to the position of it.

I was having bleeding between my periods, nothing that bad more like a bloody discharge, it was worse after I did a lot of running or played squash and it also gave me some pain then. But day to day I was fine.

Don't worry about things you can't control, it will drive you mad.

Loads of people have HPV and don't even know. They have identified yours early and treatment is a lot less evasive when caught early.
