I'm in my fiftys, and after a smear about 3 years ago I had abnormal cells plus hpv, I couldn't believe it, I had been in relationship about 3 years, I had letzz treatment done which got rid of the abnormal cells thank god. I started to take ginsing supplements as its supposed to help the body plus your body can fight off the hpv itself given time, which is what happened to me latest smear was hpv negative so don't worry, it can clear up. X

Your attitude is really good! I understand worry, been there done that myself of course, but it just makes things worse. There’s so much to be positive about, and feel very hopeful about. I’m sad I wasn’t able to provide any reassurance at all to the other lady, but was only trying to speak from my own knowledge and experiences and the countless good results I’ve seen from early detection of abnormalities. x

Hi Minska can I ask do you still test positive for hpv or is your immune system able to fight it x

I’ve never been told I tested positive for HPV, since I went straight to a diagnosis of cervical cancer and it became a bit irrelevant! But since it was adenocarcinoma I had, I know I had HPV, probably still do but I don’t get smear tests now so I’ll never be certain if that’s the case!

Oh I understand that must have been an awful shock for you are you alright now?

I don't want to worry you, but you can have no abnormal cells in your smear and still have cancer, it happened to me.

I had a smear in November 2019 with hpv no abnormal cells changes and found out in the April I had stage 1b1 cancer after going to the doctors with abnormal bleeding.

In about 20% of the population the cancer grows higher up in the cervical glands its called adenocarcinoma and the smear sometimes doesn't pick it up.

I also had adenocarcinoma...it’s harder to detect and can be missed on a smear because of its location.

Hi yes I have heard this and I think that is where the abnormality is but they are still happy for me to wait a year before being seen again 

Hi can I ask have you always had good health such as a good immune system etc because most people apparently can clear this x

I'm currently going through chemotherapy, I had a hysterectomy in June last year and had a reoccurrence in December.

I was really healthy was in the gym every day, didn't smoke and hardly drunk, with some people their body doesn't seem to be able to clear HPV and they don't know why.

I feel really disheartened now I'm worried they have missed something with me I'm hoping my immune is strong enough though I have managed to survive a bout of covid 

I wouldn't get disheartened, it takes a long time for cervical cancer to grow and with the HPV tests now alongside smear tests then they can monitor you and take action sooner. 

If they had introduced HPV testing 10 years ago then I have no doubt they would have picked up my cancer then. Treatment and identification is moving on all the time.

Unfortunately there’s never any way to know when you picked up the virus...it could have been years ago, but you’d never have known. I wouldn’t be disheartened.. abnormal cells can be easily treated.

Hi sorry me again did you get any pain along with your bleeding and how long do you think your cancer has been growing a while or did it literally take 6 months at moment I'm seeing a Counsellor and really have good days and bad days with this worry
