Red blood on outside of stool & on toilet paper

Hi there

i am a 25 year old male

for the past month or 2 months I've been on and off getting some blood on my stools ( always bright red ) and also on the tissue paper when I wipe, it doesn't happen every time I have been using anusol as I suspect piles as whenever it bleeds it's always sore and slightly itchy, now when I use the anusol it stops the bleeding completely which also makes me think it's piles, now as soon as I stop using the cream the bleeding starts again, it's been happening for at least 2 months should I be worried? Advice needed thanks

  • Hello,

I have had something similar in the past and after consulting the doctor I started using anusol as I had hemorrhoids.

If you haven't, you should go to the doctor just to be sure, but it does sound like it could be hemorrhoids.

Also, you should try and change some things in your diet perhaps, add more fibre in order to ease the stool movements.

  • As [@Mnml]‍  said, you need to see your GP.

Over the lockdown period I was getting an itchy/painful bum.  Germoloids calmed it for a few hours, but then it would be back again.

Once the lockdown ended, I phoned my GP who invited me to the surgery.  I got a proper check over, reassurance that nothing serious was wrong, and a steroid ointment.  The ointment worked like magic and I'm much more comfortable now.  I still need to use the ointment occasionally, following my GP's instructions.

The sooner you see your GP, the sooner you'll get effective treatment.
