osophagus cancer diagnosis

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer stage 3 and have come across this forum while googling, since the middle of September, I have had a plethora of tests and have been very well treated by the hospital staff, I’m starting my FLOT treatment in 9 days’ time a regime of 4 rounds 2 weeks apart then hopefully followed by surgery and then another FLOT regime.

  • OOh have a nice time! Hoping to go to Bournemouth but they booked cycle 3 for the day before or day OF us leaving (been booked since before diagnosis (and I DID tell them) but Oncologist said if my bloods on Monday are good he'll let me defer cycle 3 by a week and then I have to hope there's a seat available. Bournemouth was a 3 fold thing. My daughter WAS at Uni there so every time we went before we spent a lot of time just moving people's stuff around LOL, But this time was/is going to be hopefully longer to enjoy, watch her friends graduate, and fit the REST of her stuff in the car we couldn't get at Christmas. So waiting on Monday with bated breath.

As for cycle 2 IF 3 gets deferred I feel more positive about starting 2 as I still couldn't eat anything (saliva glands just refused to work) till Thursday just gone. So over a week just to get over side effects hasn't given me much time to get ready but I'm trying and today was a really good day.

Hi Hilts glad it's not just me, but I wish they had a med for the slime, the chemo and the cancer I can deal with THAT stuff is gonna kill me (I'm joking of course (I hope) but I'd have been eating much earlier without it. I mean it's bad enough you've just spent months of having tests and procedures that involve fasting your food intake gets messed up anyway and for me I also had the GP checking my bloods for diabetes and cholesterol (MORE fasting) NOW they wonder why I'm struggling to eat much HA Oh the list of dates I could point to LOL. Had my biggest tea so far tonight (since cycle 1 started anyway) and half a bacon omelette earlier today so did REALLY well!
