osophagus cancer diagnosis

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer stage 3 and have come across this forum while googling, since the middle of September, I have had a plethora of tests and have been very well treated by the hospital staff, I’m starting my FLOT treatment in 9 days’ time a regime of 4 rounds 2 weeks apart then hopefully followed by surgery and then another FLOT regime.

  • Hi is anybody still on this thread? I'm kinda new to this club and just about to start my 1st cycle of FLOT before surgery. Still so many unknowns including how much stomach I'll have left (if any). Won't know 'Until we get in there, and you might have an osopharectomy too'' is, though understandable, not the most comforting quote I've ever heard. Anyway just thought I'd say HI if anyone is still around!?

Hey hey- still here, but rarely come on here these days. Why? Well it’s been 6 years since ED ( endoscopy day) and he/we are still here!Discharged from everywhere apart from the aspirin clinical trial- although the is coming to an end soon.

Not sure how much of guts he has left, but certainly enough to eat far more than he should and drink too many pints ♀️.

As another poster said it is blooming tough and the lovely chemo’s effects are cumulative- but you know certainly do able.

This thread was my solace before, during and after . I read loads , he didn’t - just took what came at him. Not sure how many of the original riders are still here. It’s strange , but as the whole thing came to the end I needed this board less and less.

So , for you take comfort in the survivors and ask any questions you want

Thank you for replying and updating with thankfully such good news from your perspective. 'm glad it all went well for you and him, hopefully mine will too. I can certainly understand people leaving I wasn't even sure if I wanted to join at first, but it's been a positive experience so far and hearing so many good stories (some with worse odds than me has helped tremendously.

My surgeon seems a lot more positive after my second scan now too so that helps. Just wish they'd lay off my weight. This all started at the end of losing weight from menopause I put on 2 stone but have always been petite, I can't just gain weight (even pregnant) so they'll just have to deal with what i can do I guess. luckily I'm pretty healthy otherwise so with a bit of luck that will help.

Thank you again and Best wishes for a long healthy life to both of you.

I don’t blame him - I have mixed feelings everytime I return to this site, for obvious reasons.
Always happy to answer awkward questions.
