osophagus cancer diagnosis

Hi,

I have recently been diagnosed with oesophagus cancer stage 3 and have come across this forum while googling, since the middle of September, I have had a plethora of tests and have been very well treated by the hospital staff, I’m starting my FLOT treatment in 9 days’ time a regime of 4 rounds 2 weeks apart then hopefully followed by surgery and then another FLOT regime.

  • PLO = pre loved oesophagus

heck have I stumbled on something, 'they' are flogging our secondhand oesophagus' off on eBay!!!

who knew there was a market for them?

please excuse flippancy, it's the only way I've survived the trauma of this!

  • Tabnabs - I tried to Google that but just came back with a preloved sarcophagus.

  • hi Tabnabs

i like that idea , but it's a bit late to ask for mine back now , i hope someone else is enjoying it if it's been sold on although i can't see much demand for it , anyway PLO is the way ahead , take it easy and be happy

    Regards

  • Don't tell, 'one careful owner'

  • LOL YOU TWO

    Tabnabs and BFG (:

Sense of humour is absolutely essential through all this.

We have laughed so much , even at the worst times, we've managed to  keep it going.

It is strange , OC is no laughing matter, but we have laughed at the most inappropriate stuff- maybe a diagnosis like this gave us some perspective and enjoying the non OC stuff more than usual. We have been killing ourselves laughing at fast show re runs, Dick Emery , carry on film etc stuff that now sadly wouldn't see the light of day.

If you can't laugh what can you do eh!

  • Hi all,

Well 'the man from Oncology he said yes!' Not sure my husband is particularly excited about more 'FLOT' but it's good news that he's being offered it. It will be just over 12 weeks since his first op and 5  weeks since his 3rd op. He wasn't concerned about his left lung still not being fully expanded but Chest X Ray done just to check.  If bloods etc all Ok he should start on 6th August.Fingers and everything crossed that it goes to plan.

Kev looks and feels so much better, no longer grey. and his muscle tone is coming back. He has also gained a few pounds since coming home. Lots of Birds Cream cakes,  homemade cakes and milkshakes.

So onwards we go and hopefully this is the last hurdle- I think he definitely deserves a gold medal! In fact you all do!

Oesophageal Olympics what a course  that would be!

  • That's fabulous news - medal awarded x

  • Hi Milly,  really good news for you both...def ģold medals:happy:

  • Yyyaaaaaayyy Millie,

Great news- if that is the way to put it LOL.

Just think- 8 weeks, then done, complete, finito.

Yes, not a fun filled 8 weeks, but my goodness, look how far you and Kev have come.

I totally know what you mean about colouring, husband was like a ghostly white, a transparent look. Then little by little his colour came back. Like I've mentioned ( probably more than once!)- it is very slow the improvements, almost unnoticeable, then all of a sudden, bingo, they are much more like they were before.

Olympic golds for all of us on this rollercoaster (:

    keep that faith
