Hi I'm waiting for my biopsy results tomorrow they r concerned it might be cancer of the buccal mucosa was wondering if that means skin cancer on the inside of the cheek and I was also wondering how common it is and whether its easily treatable.
My dentist assured me its probably nothing they removed quite a large bit from my cheek at the biopsy it was a blue black lesson dentist rules out a amalgam tattoo and the maxillary consultants thinks its either a varicose vain or cancer so I'm really nervous now waiting for the results.
You probably already know this ( and I am saying this because I am dental nurse) but you are at very high risk of developing mouth cancer if you smoke and consume a lot of alcohol.
I've seen the journey from us spotting a lesion in a check up right through to having surgery/chemo/radiation.
