Hiya.
The buccal mucosa is the inner cheek.
If it's detected early enough then a complete cure is possible just by surgery alone.
Was it your dentist who spotted it?
Do you smoke or drink a lot of alcohol?
Xx
It was my dentist who noticed it because I had issues with my teeth I use to drink a lot not so much now adays but I do smoke quite heavily
My dentist assured me its probably nothing they removed quite a large bit from my cheek at the biopsy it was a blue black lesson dentist rules out a amalgam tattoo and the maxillary consultants thinks its either a varicose vain or cancer so I'm really nervous now waiting for the results.
Any news on the biopsy results?
Xx
I've had my results and its great news its non cancerous thank u everyone for your help and support thinking of u all and wishing u all well x
That's great news.
You probably already know this ( and I am saying this because I am dental nurse) but you are at very high risk of developing mouth cancer if you smoke and consume a lot of alcohol.
I've seen the journey from us spotting a lesion in a check up right through to having surgery/chemo/radiation.
Sending you strength to quit if you can xx
Its definitely given me a scare gonna make it my mission to quit smoking
