Hi,
I hope everyone doing ok. I am hoping someone has some experience to share with me. I had a small rash on areola I noticed in March, found a lump 1 month ago. Referred to triple breast clinic. Mammo, ultrasound and 4 core biopsies on what they called small group clustered calcifications. Lump showed up on mammo also. Back for results today and the consultant said they were benign ... Thankfully ! and there were some fibres in there.
They also then said that the radiologist and pathologist not 100% satisfied with result so a lumpectomy is recommended to make sure there are no atypical cells within the lump.
My question is has anyone had benign results from core and gone on to have the lumpectomy anyway or was anyone offered other biopsies before going through a surgery.
I am less concerned about the lump at the moment than I am about having possibly unnecessary surgery as I have underlying health issues also. I suppose I am just afraid of the unknown and strongly considering cancelling. If anyone has any similar experiences it would be great to hear your story and how things went for you
Thanks so much
