Ovarian Cancer

Hey,

Basically long story short version, I went for my first ever smear test a few weeks ago (I've had two children) I explained to the doctor I'd had some pins ect, she sent me for an ultrasound which I went for a few days after the smear. The day I got my smear results which said I have High Risk HPV and cell changes to the neck of womb and cervix, I got the phone call with my scan results saying I have a mass on the right ovary she wanted me in the same day for a CA125 blood test which I couldn't as I was menstrating she pretty much said they suspect it to be ovarian cancer, I had my blood test done yesterday. She explained on the phone once she'd got the blood work back that I'd be referred to a Gyneacologist oncologist department at the hospital and they'd do further testing and scans take it from there. I'm unsure what to think or do now? I'm very young and worried my kids are just little aswell.

  • Oh believe me I have had my down days especially when going through chemo.  You will find it will make you tired & also sleepless at night!! but then that might just be me as I sm not a good sleeper.

I am 58 & the consultant said that I have most likely had it in me for a couple of years or more!! and that it was most likely caused from Endometriosis. I have always suffered with painful periods & just told to take paracetamol which i did. How old are you ? and at least yours was found with your smear test. Well done for going & keep going also do all the other checks for boobs & mamograms.

Try & stay positive it helps.  When you feel low have a giggle and cuddle with your kids :)  xx

  • Hey Remi,

I have just turned 26, that's pretty awful that you've had to fight to get your diagnosis especially since you are above the age of 40! I'm glad I finally went and got my smear test done with a lot of pushing from MIL I finally went!

hope you are having a good day today x

  • Yes I must say it did make me angry.  Well  You have been & had your smear test & seen that it does not hurt it is just the embarrasment of it more than anything. Over in 5 minutes. Keep going & having all that is offered now. Life is too precious to let it go for 5 mins of uncomfortable. And well done to MIL for pushing you. Had a good day today went for a walk with hubby & our little Cairn. Another tip if it helps try & keep yourself moving even if you have to push yourself through the treatment if you have to have it that is. I found that doing little bits like washing up or  just walking up & down helped

You take care & keep positive xx
