Worried about lumps on neck and shoulder

Hi, it has taken me a while to reach out to anyone about what I'm experiencing, but with finding another lump tonight I thought I may as well ask for help here.

For a quick overview, I have around 5 lumps that tend to never disappear, all around my neck and jawline. There are three that sit in a horizontal line on the left side of my neck that are hard and rubbery but can be moved around. I have another under my chin, which is solid, unable to move.

I usually get 2 more showing up under my jaw, one in the centre of my neck next to my Adam's apple, on my jawline next to my ears, on my jawline under my ears, and on the bone behind my ears when I get a 'flare-up.' I coined it as a 'flare-up' because randomly when I'm not sick, most will increase in size and become quite painful.

I also have 2 tiny ones on the back of my left shoulder, and tonight I have found another one on my left armpit.

I've been putting off going to the GP throughout the pandemic because they have not been clear about how they are functioning. I thought I had type 1 diabetes a few months ago (genetic, had a few symptoms) and I had my bloods done, but nothing came up. I had no follow up with my GP about what was causing the symptoms I went for.

Now my symptoms are as thus - the lumps in my neck and shoulder. The ones that worry me are the three on my neck, left side as they just sit there. I am constantly just feeling unwell, I have no energy, I'm sleeping way too much. I know that night sweats are a symptom, however, due to my trait of always thinking that I am overthinking everything, I keep telling myself that my sweats at night are just because I'm too hot. Yet I always sleep with my window open, in a t-shirt and shorts, and my duvet is quite thin.

The other main one is that I am quite underweight. I am 18 years old and weigh 46.9kg (7.3 stone/103 pounds) with a height of 5'6. I have lost (I think)  around 10kg over the past few months. There has been no change to my diet.

All I see is lymphoma where I look, to the point where I'm sick of it. I don't want to go through anything related to this, so I'm putting it off. The first time I discovered a lump was when I was 12 - the small ones on the back of my shoulder. And over the past years, these symptoms have gotten worse and more lumps have appeared.

I'm just after some guidance on what to do, and if these symptoms seem lymphoma related or not. I keep putting it off but it feels like it's just getting worse.

If anyone has anything, that would be great.

  • Hi Liam. Welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your symptoms and of course you're going to be worried, but putting off seeing the doctor isn't going to improve your situation.

You really do need to phone the GP and make an appointment.  Do it this morning.

Let us know how you get on.
