Breast cancer

Hi I was diagnosed with aggressive breast cancer (Her2 positive). CT scan also showed something going on in my stomach which I've had MRI for yesterday. Fingers crossed it's not related to the cancer.

Just want to get started on my treatment. I've been given a choice of chemo, op and radiotherapy or op, chemo and radiotherapy, 2 different consultants and really don't know which one to choose !!

    Hi Amy

    I hope you've had a good week.

I've been thinking about you all day. I hope it went as well as it could do. I meant to ask have you had the cold cap to help stop hair falling out ? I don't know whether to try it or not.

I had my results the other day and it's all negative so the op went well. Just waiting for the next stage to start.

Take care and plenty of rest xx

  • Hi karen. Thats brilliant news, you're one step closer to cure! They did mention a cold cap to me but they said it doesn't work for everyone and can be uncomfortable so i chose against it. I had my hair shaved off last week as it was coming out loads in the hairbrush. But i feel better its done now. Again, sorry for the late replies! It went ok yesterday thanks. I had nausea after but no sickness yet. My heads feeling sore and heavy again. But its another round done now, just got to cope with the side effects! They managed my covid test on monday too lol. It wasn't too bad but i wish there was another way.  Hope you're well and resting too

  • So pleased it went well. I kept thinking about you and the covid test especially as I knew you were dreading it. Just think that you're a 3rd if your way through it xx

I have been told about the cold cap and didn't know whether to try it but I know it causes headaches and what with chemo causing a thick head I don't know if I could cope. Anyway I've just ordered a scarf to try and get used to now before the time comes.

Enjoy your weekend as much as you can and hopefully the sickness won't come this time, fingers crossed.

    Take care xx

  • Hi karen. Its been an eventfull afternoon! I went out for a drive with my mum as she lives with me. I had phoned oncology about bowel problems and next thing they"re telling me i need to go to the hospital. I automatically panicked lol. But they did a blood test and ANOTHER covid test. But the one who did it was fine with the throat part but really hurt my nostrils. I almost yanked it out at one point lol. But home now and resting. You could give the cold cap a go but i know what you mean about the thick head. Mine just doesn't feel right after and it gets quite sore. But you might not find it too bad. My consultant said she wasn't convinced it would save my hair anyway. My brother said about me being a 3rd of the way there too and i freaked out! Im getting the tumours checked on 22nd september, so hopefully the chemo is working. Hope you're enjoying your weekend too.

  • Omg Amy thank God you're ok ! You're definitely getting used to the covid tests though it'll be a breeze by the time you've finished ;) hope the bowel thing is nothing and just a side effect not that you need another one !! I'll be rooting for you come the 22nd I'm sure it'll be good news. I decided today to get my daughter to drop me miles away from home as I'm a lazy sod so she did and I had to walk back but to be honest I quite enjoyed the time to myself though tomorrow my old aching bones wont have :)

I'll have to have another chat with my nurse about the cold cap but I'm leaning towards the not bothering.

Any way enjoy the rest of your weekend and try and stay out of trouble ;)

  • Ive had 3 in 2 weeks lol. They're certaintly keen to test me! I think the bowel problems are just a side effect. The dr felt my stomach and said it felt fine so no need for  xrays. They've given me laxatives so im hoping that will do the job! I wish i was brave enough to get out for a walk. But im paranoid about getting close to others. I just isolate as much as possible from days 1 - 10 to try and be safe. I really don't want anymore drama anytime soon lol. Yeah, ask the nurse more about the cold cap. Maybe they might let you see it and try it out. Speak soon!

  • Hi Amy thought I'd see how you are doing. Hope the laxatives took hold so to speak ;) I'm just plucking up the courage to go for a walk as I haven't been for a few days. Even though we live in a village we live right next door to the primary school and there's already been a covid case there since they started back last week !! Went to see family on Tuesday as hadn't seen them since Feb, it was nice to see them all though my dad thought I'd overdone it with the antibacteral spray as when he touched the car I sprayed it down !! HAHAHAHA maybe it was too much !!

Hope you enjoy the sun this weekend. I'm definately planning on it :) Take care xx

  • Hi karen. I ended back in the hospital 6am monday, im really hoping there'll be no more trips back there soon lol. Im not really going out a lot too, i go out in the car but i won't go into shops etc. Thats lovely that you saw your family, that must of given you a boost. Im obessed with the antibac spray lol. Ive got ocd, so its made me 10x worse! But its better to be safe than sorry. As long as you've got a mask and distance yourself from others you should be ok. Hope you have a lovely weekend too and you are feeling well
