Worried and need help..

Hiya everyone I was wondering if I could get some advice. I'll explain all as much as I can. I've been having really bad pain in my left breast for around 2-3 weeks. I spoke to my dr about it who said it's probably just to do with hormones and to take primrose oil. I've been using that and iburofen and nothing is helping. On Sunday I got so worked up and caused myself to panic and have a panic attack and went to the hospital. The dr checked me other as I couldn't breathe properly either. He checked my breast and said he couldn't feel any lumps,I asked him to feel again because it felt really hot to touch and he said it didn't. On Monday I spoke to my dr who arranged to see me,She checked me over and I explained to her that my breast really hurt and that the vein keeps raising. She said it was nothing to worry about. I feel like I'm going crazy,I'm still in so much pain and my left breast doesn't seem the right shape at all,On the side there seems to be a raised lump and where the vein is it seems different to my right breast. It don't feel right at all. I don't know what to do. The drs don't seem to be taking my concerns seriously and it's making me so and Anxcious it's stopping me from doing everyday things. I just need some advice

  • Hellooo Bec,

I am so sorry that you're feeling so scared!

It's a horrible way to feel and you definitely need some reassurance with that.

    You are important.

    Your health is important.

I am really pleased that your medical team are telling you that they think it's ok. If they say it is, then it probably is.

If it were me I'd give it a few days, try to stay calm, and make sure that I watched for any changes. Noting changes can be so valuable in making a diagnosis I'm sure.

And make an appointment to discuss your concerns with your doctor. Making some notes ready for asking questions can be a valuable tool for you both.

Honestly the medics are there to help. They want to help. And they will.

The questions you ask can also be helpful to you.

I often ask "Are you sure?", and that gives me the reassurance I need - especially when they can explain to me why they are sure.

I hope you can get some sleep, and find some comfort in knowing that you will be listened to.

Let us know how you go.

I shall be thinking of you

    Xxxx

    Hi Bec,

Welcome to our forum. Whilst I can appreciate how scared you are, I agree with Mare. Doctors are pretty good at checking for breast cancer. Besides this is very seldom accompanied by pain.

Very occasionally, something can be missed, so if you notice further changes, please go back to your GP and, ask for referral to a breast clinic. Mare is quite right, it always helps to jot down dates of any changes in your breast.

If it is so painful, do you think that it might be infected? If it is, you would notice a change in temperature, swelling of the breast and redness surrounding the area. If you find this getting worse, again it would be worth seeing your GP again.

I sincerely hope that both doctors are correct and that you have nothing to worry about.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you both for your replies. I'm going to do what was suggested and give it a few days and keep a log on any changes  and see what they say. I spoke to a friend of mine about it and she said it might me the milk ducts they might be inflamed and causing an infection. I'm taking a bit of comfort in the fact that 3 different drs have checked but I still can't shake the feeling that they don't feel right. As I said previously the dr said it could be to do with my periods but I haven't had one since May (not pregnant,I very rarely have periods and the drs don't seem to know why after having many examinations they still don't know, only 30 yrs of age too) thank you both for replying I do really apprcaiate it xx

  • So I've been to the drs again who has referred me to the breast clinic. She thinks the pain is coming from my shoulder but wants to get my breasts checked anyway for piece of mind. Got the appointment for breast clinic in 2 weeks time xx

    Hi Bec,

I'm glad to hear that you have got an appointment at the breast cancer clinic. I am not a doctor. Pain doesn't normally accompany a breast cancer diagnosis, but this could be an infection. I hope that your appointment comes through soon and that your results are still all clear.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
