Hi everyone just want to introduce myself
Hi lauren.
Welcome to the forum the club nobody wants to join.
Us here are like a big family everyone looking after anyone who is struggling and needs a little support.
If you put what is wrong you should have someone come to talk to can't guarantee whether you might have to wait a while though some only come on forum now and again others are on daily. Alot of ladies kneed their beauty sleep and make up before coming on
Hope to hear from you soon.
Best wishes
Billy
Hi Billy thank you for the welcome message, hopefully I'll get the idea of how it all works and hope to chat soon.
best wishes
Lauren
I was really ill starting Xmas morning with nausea, stomach cramps and diarrhoea. This went on for 5 days, I was then fine for a week and the same again!!
The doctor did blood tests and my inflammation markers were slightly raised to 17, my platelets were slightly elevated and I did a stool test which has showed high inflammation. (I am not sure how high I didn't think to ask as I was panicking so much).
I have had the worst anxiety and been taking Sertraline for just over 3 weeks, I am starting to feel like myself now.
I have been having 1 loose stool every morning without pain or cramping and then fine for the rest of the day but I’m not sure if it’s my anxiety.
The doctor wants me to have a colonoscopy which I really do not want, I have been referred to the gastroenterologist but my appointment isn’t until July!!
I was signed off work for 4 weeks and they are arranging some CBT for health anxiety.
I am taking a fermented turmeric supplement to hopefully bring down the inflammation myself and ask for a repeat test to avoid the camera.
I have had no cramps now for over 5 weeks, no blood etc but because my stools are quite loose I keep worrying about the change in bowel habits and obviously the high stool result. The stool sample was taken when I was having an ill episode and couldn't stop going to the toilet.
I feel well in myself and have started eating properly again now, I am really scared of having a colonoscopy but I am also worried that I might have bowel cancer.
I am 32 so the dr said it's highly unlikely but I have read a lot online about young bowel cancer diagnosis it's really hard not to google.
Hi AD88,
Welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about the trouble you've been having with your stools. There is really only one way to find out what it wrong with your bowel. If your stools have settled down so much, is there really any urgency to have a colonoscopy before July? If your doctor felt that there was any urgency, you would have been given an urgent referral. I can understand that you are afraid of having this procedure, but there really is nothing to it. I have had a few of these and on all occasions I have found the hospital staff very reassuring and gentle. They were also very good at explaining exactly what they saw.
I am not a doctor but let me reassure you that it is well worth having this test if only to put your mind at rest. If the worst comes to pass, the sooner any cancer is found, the better the outcome is likely to be. Your doctor is right, that it is unlikely to be cancer because of your age, although sadly not impossible. However, there are possibly a number of alternative and simpler causes. Was Christmas the first time that you have had this type of problem or have you had it before?
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
