Breast cancer diagnosis

Hi,

6 months ago a week before my 50th birthday. I had a mastectomy. 22mm invasive Ductul. It was grade 3 not in lymph nodes.. on tamoxifen for 5 years..

I am now off work and anti depression tablets, as it hit me I had cancer.. I cannot stop reading research papers on recurrence and cannot seem to move forward.. I am a nurse practitioner, so I know what I would say to patients

any advice on how people have moved forward, I know  I am lucky it has not spread to lymph.

thank you

I'm lucky that I am not finding post cancer treatment challenging like yourself (accepted my diagnosis & have always rated quality of life over longevity by a country mile) however you may find that distraction techniques help...I find when I need distracting from anything causing angst that exercise is a good solution and also on line exercise classes (YouTube) where you've got no option (if you're doing it correctly) but to block out any negative thoughts.  Plus those endorphins will definitely help.

Also getting out & walking and really immersing yourself in the wonderful nature we have may make you feel better.  Or maybe hobbies are more your thing?

You already know that counsellors etc are there for you, may help...can't say its ever helped me when needed but we're all different.

Good luck and hope you find something that works.

    Sam
