Breast clinic referrals in Scotland During covid

Hi everyone. I’m new to this forum

I have recently been referred to the breast clinic due to discomfort and swelling in my right breast. The breast feels more dense and I have pain down my arm. This has been evolving over a few months and I am naturally worried sick. I was wondering if there was anyone else from Scotland who had been recently referred and had their date through? I don’t know what to expect time wise due to the pandemic but I’m going insane waiting

thank you.

  • Aww thanks for thinking of me

First chemotherapy went ok and I'm feeling not too bad so far - bit nauseous and tired but pretty ok.   Got anti sickness, steroids to take for few days plus injected white cells something or other!  Was bit nervous about injecting myself but it's been ok.  Go tomorrow for a nuclear cardiac fraction which is to check my heart.

cheers and many thanks for keeping in touch

  • I’m relieved to hear u coped with the chemo ok. That’s such good news. Giving yourself injections is certainly a challenge, well done for managing. You should be so proud of yourself Mary.

I hope everything checks out with your heart ok sounds like they r being very thorough which is great to hear. Your off to a positive start by the sounds of things. Well done

  • Hello

Thanks for email.  I'm doing ok - having some rubbish days but also some days when I feel fairly normal!  Number 4 chemo due tomorrow - so that will be the half way mark.  Third chemo had to be delayed due to white blood cells not being good enough.  Hospital looking after me well.  They have found a couple of calcifications in the same boob which they were going to biopsy but on the biopsy day I was told they'd decided against that as they felt it was so certain they were cancer it wasn't necessary.  I've had some markers inserted which will show how main lump and the smaller do are growing/shrinking.  I've been told the type of cancer I have responds to chemo well so hopefully everything shrinking.  I go to see Consultant on Thursday this week.

I have now got a wig but only worn it a couple of times when I've  been out - not too sure if I actually prefer to wear a hat.  Worried it's going to blow off or be squint but probably just need to get used to it.

Some good news is that I've heard my cancer is not genetic - had been a big worry to me so I'm really pleased with that news.

    Thanks for thinking of me

  • Hi Mary,

well done in reaching the half way mark of your chemo. Hang in there, your doing so well to battle on. I’m so glad your cancer should respond well to the treatment, hopefully this means a quick battle and recovery and the cancer is gone for good . It’s reassuring to hear your being looked after so well.

it must be a huge adjustment wearing hats or wigs. I’m sure it’s only natural to feel paranoid though no doubt people around probably don’t even notice.

Fantastic to hear your cancer is not genetic. One less thing to worry about. Good luck next Thursday No doubt you will be on my mind. Always hear of you need a chat.

    Best wishes
