Sorry I didn't realise you were posting from Ireland. It's worth speaking to someone more locally to you as treatment regimes can vary and it's unlikely that our nurses would know indepth about Irish healthcare practices. 
You may want to try contacting the Irish Cancer Society nurses or alternatively give your health care provider a quick call.

Hi Jenny,

That is no problem at all :) I would prefer to hear someone's experience here as I used the information of this website and other documents issued by gynecologysts in the UK available on the internet to decide to try the Mirena coil instead of the hysterectomy that my own doctor recommended. I felt that my own doctor pushed me to have the surgery without offering any alternative options, and even when I was asking questions about other options the responses were very dismissive and discouraging.

I did not want the surgery, felt it to be too invasive and unnecessery especially after doing my own research in the topic. So based on what I read partly here I made up my mind to try the coil and I do not regret that decision. What I am not sure about is why my doctor wants to replace it every 6 months when I have the biopsy. I would like to know whether it was the same for other women or not as nobody mentioned that it was the case. My biopsy is only due in August, so I have time to wait for someoen to reply, hopefully will :)
