How long have you had the lump for? 

I had a similar thing about a month ago, woke up one morning and the gland behind my ear and by my jawline was slightly swollen! Didn't think much of it, but then the following day my face was so much more swollen and painful opening mouth etc. Didn't feel ill with it other than pain. 
 

Went to the doctors and they said most likely mumps - even though I'd had all my jabs. Went down after a week.
 

could it maybe be this ???

Sorry, I don't really know! If you're worried about it and it hasn't gone down after a week or so might be worth going to the doctors to put your mind at ease :happy:

I've recently experienced the exactly same thing hard lump in my throat just under & slightly to the back of my right ear !! 1stly I had to go to the dentist because 1st thought by DR's is it could be an Abscess due to an infection in the mouth so you have to ask yourself a few questions . . . 1.) Being, Have you got/had any toothache? 2.) Do you have/got any pain in your jaw? Have you got/had any Ear ache or discharge leaking from your Ear ? If you answered "No" to all those questions then it isn't an abscess an need to go back to the DR's because what your dealing with is a Blockage in the Lymph Node and that needs seeing to ASAP !!
